Re: Wildcards

This thread is funny

Thanks to Ville and Adam for your explanations. I agree that we should give the new system a chance. And the last thing I want is more complexity/work for the already hard-working managers. Also I agree the the first-come-first-served aspect of requesting WCs is what we are trying to eliminate, but my thought was that WCs are pretty dodgy in real life, so having a dodgy (kinda exciting) "race for the WC" wouldn't be so bad.

But anyway, I aint bothered cos I'm top-ten

Yes. It makes the off-season-time less boring.

But posts like "Markus, what do I need to win against qczi " or "Will Hajek v. Kohlschreiber decide our match ?" still are the real thing... I'm missing it.

TFC, you seem so sure that you won't improve your ranking before you give it a shot. People will be more willing to listen to you if next December you still haven't improved. Right now we're saying, "It's just a game, give it a chance and if it doesn't work we'll change it." But I'm fairly sure it will work

When the majority of people don't agree with you it's not all high ranked players. ufokart has played like 4 tournaments total and he disagrees. Get over yourself.

BTW I think the year end challengers are a poor examples of what challenger level matches will be next year. Usually there are better fields with only players from 90-200 playing, but post-Paris most of them were already done with their seasons It's not always going to be like Maui where it is guys ranked 800 and 1200 It will be easier. And if you don't know about guys who are ranked right around 100, I don't know what to tell you because these guys are the ones playing quallies for ATP matches too, so it looks like you wouldn't do great there either.
Makes sense.
But you must admit,me,and all the players who joined late this season, are not in the same position, like you were when you started.
Yeah,we'll see next December.

Just like someone on the ATP ranked 250 won't win a slam in 2007. They have to build themselves up

Re: Wildcards

Melvins 2 ideas where brillant and i think the board need to really take them seriously. In some weeks (not first week) there is 4 or 5 challengers so 16 players in each is much fairer.

TT record after my long awaited return: 2011
CHAMPION: Vancouver CH
Runner-Up:
SF: Sopot CH
QF: Guadalajara CH

Doubles (with tennisfancroatia unless stated)
CHAMPION: Vancouver CH
Runner-Up:
SF: Sopot CH, Astana CH(w/herbal), San Marino CH

I agree it's a good idea, but do we have enough people wishing to be managers?

It is not much harder. Admittedly, there can be some matches between say world no 560 and world no 564 where you might not know what to do, but these matches are rare.
If you wanna move up the rankings, do as was suggested earlier and use the atp site. If you think you know enough without it, use your own intelligence. You did ok in the challengers, didn't you? I think you can move up the rankings in this system.

Yes i think there is. People are always wishing to be managers but the list is full and with TT growing, more players might like to become managers so i don't think this will be a problem.

Re: Wildcards

I think a WC idea could work if you help out TT players from the actual countries where the tournament is taking place, just like real tennis.

Picking WCs due to supposed "talent" is stupid.

PAW Career High: 1

Winner:2012 Madrid, 2011 Rome, 2009 Delray Beach, Montreal 2008 Toronto, 2007 New Haven, 2005 St. Petersburg

TT Singles Career High: 7
TT Doubles Career High: 4

Singles Winner: 2010 Bucharest, 2007 Indian Wells
Doubles Winner: 2012 San Jose, Queens (w/hallso) 2011 Los Angeles (w/hallso)

Well, that sound very good! Yeah, if there are 3 WCs at least 2 WCs should go to the players from country where the tournament is playing.

I insist we should use Melvins`s idea, more little challengers (16 players) and a easy managing... And more people managing tournaments....

If you really play good, you can show your real TT level !! And you will be better in the rankings like the ATP...

I want to know this:
Will the new entry system (ranking) be used in the challengers too??? or only in the ATP??

Gustavo Marcaccio David Nalbandian Jo-Jo Tsonga Marcos Baghdatis
