And what if I made the top 8 with 2 or 3 different partners? That would be quite unfair for the 2 who can't play the Masters.

That's the point. If you start playing with a lot of different partners you won't be able to get to the doubles MC, because points will go to doubles not to singles.

Set ratios is only to the TB system.

So, first count the correct picks and after, if tied, count set ratios.

LUSO TÉNIS - Ténis português

FREDERICO GIL - RUI MACHADO - GASTÂO ELIAS - LEONARDO TAVARES
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO - NEUZA SILVA - FREDERICA PIEDADE - MARIA JOÃO KOEHLER - MAGALI DE LATTRE

For example, the manager can do that at least one hour after the first match has started or everybody had sent their picks. So, with the possibility to check your opponent picks, there are some

advantages:
-- you don't have to wait for the manager to make an update and see what's the situation in the match
-- you don't have to wait for the manager to answer the 'what I need to win?' question
-- you can avoid a loss because of manager's mistake (the manager is a human too - there are a lot of matches and numbers, so calculation mistakes are highly possible)
-- you can avoid a loss because of manager's wrong interpretation of the rules (TB's, CB's, etc. - it's happening lately )
-- you can be absolutely sure that you really lost the match (I'm not accusing some of the managers of changing picks/tb's etc. because of some reason, the important here is that everyone will leave the tournament without any doubt in the authenticity of his loss, and that's a good and important thing, I think )
-- the manager will save a lot of time and work by not answering the 'what i need' - questions and not making frequent updates every time, so he can concentrate on the daily final sheet

and

disadvantages:
--decrease of the suspense (when you don't want to know who'll be the winner until the last match - you just don't look at the Pick Summary)
--one more file to paste in for the managers (still the saved time & work will be incomparably more)

I think it might work!
And just wanna be clear - absolutely no offence against the managers, without them this game wouldn't be possible !

Re: Tennis Tipping Rules and Changes Thread

Thats a lot of work for the manager, and this should stay away from imitating other games, in my opinion.

it's just one more paste of everybodies picks... I've done this example in about 6-7minutes...
and has nothing to do with imitating, but with the improvement in some way (it'll be stupid (for example) to call the copy of PAW's ranking points here - an imitation, I think)

Re: Tennis Tipping Rules and Changes Thread

What does set ratios mean?

Does it mean to say, player x wins by 2 sets to 1 to player y???
Is it the same as TB?

It would be used as a TB instead of PTS.

Basically you would just predict:

Massu (2:0) meaning Massu will win in straight sets or (2:1) meaning he wins in 3, etc. You would do this for every match you predict and ONLY if your winners are tied, the amount of set ratios you got correct could be counted and used as a tiebreak.

When you think about PTS it's complete luck whether a set is won 6-3 or 6-4 bye a certain player. Half of that depends on the coin toss and who decides to serve or receive. In my opinion, losing a TIPPING match because you put 6-3 instead of 6-4 is not right. That's what PTS is for. Predicting set ratios is actually closer to the heart of the game, at least in my opinion I don't think it would hurt to try it once next year, just to see if it works.

Alonso, we wouldn't be able to eliminate PTS entirely and a PTS would be used in the first round only because there are no CB. It would lessen the importance of guessing scores.

Troicki - Djokovic - Del Potro - Kyrgios - Berankis
Cibulkova - Robson - Kirilenko - Azarenka
Retired but always loving Ferrero - Ancic - Kiefer

Losing by ranking is the worst thing possible along with picking a perfect score for the round and that has happened.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
