We should aim for realism, so I think we should implement that (horrible) idea.

I agree with the above posters. I voted no. RR makes me nauseous. It makes me ill just thinking about how it is ruining our sport and I am not entertaining the idea of it in TT either. I will never play a RR TT event. I would rather play challengers, qualifying, or if all those are full, I would rather not play at all. I will absolutely never sign up for one of the RR events. Just as a matter of principle. I am strongly against it in real tennis, and I certainly can't bring myself to support it here.

If you must, try it once, and hopefully no one will sign up for it so you lot will never have the idea to implement it again. So many of us are so upset about it being put into play in real life and now you're going to ruin TT with it too. I don't know, I just hate the idea of it.

Re: Should we bring the Round Robin Format to TT in 2007?

I disagree too. This RR idea is the worst idea that ATP has had for years.Maybe we should try it for 2 or 3 tournament (for weeks where 3 tournaments are played) but 13 seems too much imo (as most of TT players seem against this RR system, i guess that they all will want to play in Munich and Not Estoril, in Halle and not at the Queen's ...).
I don't think i will play one of them so i vote No.
But if a significant part of our community want it whe should try it (maybe in Adelaide ).

Re: Should we bring the Round Robin Format to TT in 2007?

Until it came out in the press, I thought that this RR business wouldn't even get off the drawing board... and that is where it should stay. It's all well and good at the WTC and TMC, but I don't agree with its introduction at the regular tournaments.

As far as TT is concerned, I don't want to change to RR. And if most people are opposed to it, what point is there to try it? Unless the system is successful for the ATP and more people become supportive of the format, it just won't work in my opinion.

We don't have to follow ATP in everything. My vote is NO.

Re: Should we bring the Round Robin Format to TT in 2007?

we shouldn't be scared to try something new ATP is doing the same thing just to allowed us to watch more tennis, so I am to give it try in those tournaments where actually will be played RR

I know here is not place but have to ask is going commiting to change and how?

Re: Should we bring the Round Robin Format to TT in 2007?

As a new-ish player to this game I value the knock-out element that it has (mainly because I have had lucky draws ) and feel this could be lost with round robin. In principle I am against it. As long as a solution may be found to deal with the new Round Robin format (i.e. what matches are TT Round One, Round Two etc.) I would prefer the game remained a straight knock-out format.

Re: Should we bring the Round Robin Format to TT in 2007?

I'm not really convinced about this. The whole idea about TT (and Tennis) is that it should be straight knock out. You should get no second chances

I suppose though there would be no harm in trialling it, and seeing what the response is after....
