Poll 2: Pairing up random players

Question 1: Should managers be allowed to pair up random players for doubles in order to fill the draw, provided that the final deadline has passed?

Yes (suggestion)
No (current rule)

Question 2: In case of a rule change, how many teams should managers be allowed to pair up?

Up to 8 teams but no further (up to the minimum number of teams required for a doubles tournament to take place).
2 teams (maximum of 2 teams)
Up to the number of Main Draw spots (until the Main Draw is full)

Options (left = Question 1 / right = Question 2)
- Option 1: Yes / Up to 8 teams but no further
- Option 2: Yes / 2 teams
- Option 3: Yes / Up to the number of MD spots
- Option 4: No (current rule) / Up to 8 teams but no further
- Option 5: No (current rule) / 2 teams
- Option 6: No (current rule) / Up to the number of MD spots

Yes, but I'm not sure why there are 3 options, as there won't be many people to pair up.

Once the tournament has been secured by having 8 teams, there is nothing to be gained by having further pairings.

Agreed.

But I guess this only holds for people that put theirselves available for doubles, right?
Not that we pair people that only want to play singles, just to fill up draws.

That's not what the rule would do - its to make sure there are 8 teams.

I dont think more than 2 teams should be paired up. Otherwise I can see a scenario where you pair up multiple teams and no one sends. Plus if you can't secure 6 doubles teams anyways, seems to be the tournament probably shouldn't go ahead anyways.

I did pair up one team in Lima CH this year to ensure a tournament, and I think that was a good solution. But not more than two.
