TT 2015 SUGGESTIONS THREAD (READ FIRST BEFORE POSTING)
Time to voice your opinions and ideas on possible changes/improvements to the game. If you have any suggestions to make this game better, please post them here.
After the 2011 off-season, we decided to improve the changes period by making it longer and opening a thread for suggestions first. This way, we're able to begin the actual changes period with all the suggestions in the first post of the thread for discussions.
Instructions - One suggestion per post.
- Please clarify your suggestion (with examples if possible)
- Do NOT discuss the suggestions in this thread (a separated thread will be created for opinions/votes/discussions).
- Suggestions will be accepted until Sunday, October 25th.
I am not sure the exact rules for 2015 but I feel next year it should be changed in 2016 that if you are a LE to a tournament and then said tournament get's cancelled you should still be allowed to switch to another tournament but you should still be a LE. Basically it seems pretty unfair that someone who committed to 0 tournaments during the 1st deadline would get their LE status in singles removed and can possibly get a main draw spot and knock out people who committed before the 1st deadline to qualies.

Last year it was voted that players who have a Bye in R1 and don't send for R2 can be replaced by ALTs. But having ALTs in this situation is very rare. I wanna suggest that these players should be replaced by an LL from first round like it's done when two opponents don't send in R1.
This should be done in qualies and main draw.

I don't know, how about using the real ATP rankings points? it took me a whole month to memorize CH points, and I still don't even know most of the ATP level ones

Since several has said they will suggest it earlier in the year I can make sure it gets a hearing.
If a set has been completed, should it count for shootout purposes? The classic case being a 2-1 vs a 2-0, outsider wins the 1st set but the match ends in a retirement. First player has already celebrated a win before then suddenly losing on CB.

This is pretty much what I'd suggest (as I did a few times already). I don't think anything is going to change though, because too few people have experienced it to realize how ridiculous it is when the situation
which Markus explained happens.

I don't agree with changing the ATP points.
I am fine with these points. More equal.
To be honest I"d like to propose the change to ISR in case of a tie.
I think that the rules of the ShootOut has proved its limites and pushed people not to take risk..

Every decision which is made on the order of the matches are unfair. Shootout is the second worst rule in TT hystory (the first is the WTF ISR rule)
The deciding order should follow as:
1 Total number of correct picks
2 Total number of correct SRs
3 Total number of sets given to winners <<-- Thats new
4 PTS
5 GD (Nobody can explain me why the 3 days earlier picks are more important do decide current round than the current picks)
6 Countback
7 Ranking
Re: TT 2015 Suggestions Thread (read first before posting)
Why can't top 30 players be seeded for challenger tournaments even if there's no ATP tournaments on that week Seems a stupid rule and can also lead to top 30 players having to go through QUALIES. There should be benefits to having a higher rank not limitations. I'd recommend this as a change.
Re: TT 2015 Suggestions Thread (read first before posting)
this has been discussed on TF a lot... so in your opinion, what are players who don't have an ATP tournament in their country to do? where would they get their WCs?
Re: TT 2015 Suggestions Thread (read first before posting)
2 suggestion from me
1. The futures during off-season should give Wildcards instead of ranking points.
2. The most important for me but only apply in the Round Robin tournaments (WTF and Challenger Tour Finals), it's completely unfair to use CB in this tournament at least in the round robin there are 3 completely different matches of the same round.

The ISR rule doesn't have to compare only incorrect picks. That can give some paradoxial results, like both members of a doubles team losing to both members of another doubles team in singles, but winning the doubles match against them on the same OOP. It is possible to vote if it should give an ISR for any incorrect 2-1 regardless of your opponent's pick.
it is not worse then sr shootout here where you lose because of the order of the matches in the OOP that is pure luck, while in TF the ISR awards some strategic thinking at least
my newest proposal:
1) Expand the SE and WC system for doubles teams as well if possible.
Re: TT 2015 Suggestions Thread (read first before posting)
Two proposals
1. Lets change the thread title to TT 2016 Suggestions Thread
2. Change in the SE system
The current approach:
CH Final -> SE to CH
ATP 250 final -> SE to ATP 250 (or below)
ATP 500 final -> SE to ATP 500 (or below)
ATP 1000 final -> SE to ATP 1000 (or below)
My proposal:
CH 90 Final -> SE to CH120 (or below)
CH 120 Final -> SE to ATP 250 (or below)
ATP 250 final -> SE to ATP 500 (or below)
ATP 500 final -> SE to ATP 1000 (or below)
ATP 1000 final -> SE to ATP 1000 (or below)
You suggest retirement.
I'd like to add something like:
Retirement in last set with a break back = match considered as completed
E.G.
Nadal def. Federer 64 20 Ab (3 Sets match) = Nadal 20
Nadal def. Federer 20 Ab (3 Sets match) = Nadal 00 (SR not counting)
Nadal def. Federer 64 11 Ab (3 Sets match) = Nadal 00 (SR not couting)
Nadal def. Federer 64 46 63 20 Ab (5 Sets matches) = Nadal 31
Nadal def. Federer 64 46 20 Ab (5 Sets matches) = Nadal 00 (SR not counting)
Could be hard to determine if there is a break back but you can usually find in all aps (like ATP/WTA live).
I thought of something but is is too late for a vote for 2016 maybe 2017. My idea is people should be allowed to rep for countries/territores that no longer exist but did at one point IE Kingdom Of Aragon,USSR,East Germany,Inca Empire etc
Damn, I forgot to post this earlier, anyhow I'd rather do it now than never.
About SE.
Player requests SE but his/her match won't be decided until saturday or friday very very late (after qualy draws from next week are scheduled to be released) because of rain or wherever reason it can happen. I think those SE requested should be granted, and as a deadline we can have either the Qualy draw releasing time or a standard Friday 20/22:00 CEST.
Reason: Not often, but a few tournaments in CHallengers, and ATP250 have had to play (complete) QF and SF on saturday because of previous delays or poor scheduling. It is a bit similar to real tournaments and I don't think it happens that often, but when it does, it might help a lot to lower ranked players.
^
SEs are already granted if the asking player is alive in the tournament when draws have to be made in the next one.
