Re: Tennis Tipping | Managers Thread

For doubles seedings, what does everyone do? I've noticed Labamba combines rankings, while I combine ranking points. We may have to have a vote, with everybody on the board of managers.

I think in the atp tour they use combined points for seedings

Re: Tennis Tipping | Managers Thread

I use combined ranks. The ATP uses combined ranks for the cut. Why would they use combined points for seedings, but combined rankings for the cut?

From ATP Rulebook:
Quote:
D. Seeds -ATP and Challengers
Seeded teams will be determined by using the combined doubles ranking of the two players (entry protection not included). Ties shall be broken as follows:
1) The team with the fewest events played is positioned higher.
2) The team with the highest number of points is positioned higher.
3) A coin flip or draw if a tie remains.

Did we discussed the rule when a player retires ? Should it be like in PAW , when a player retires after one set played and the second set has beggan the match is counted , if the player retires before the 1st set is over the the match is not counted ?

I quite like the idea of counting a match if at least one set has been completed

In my opinion we should follow the ATP as close as possible with the TT game. In a real match if one player retires after even just one point, the other player is declared the winner. So it should be for TT aswell. I know sometimes this may suck if you have picked the retiring player but over the season this should even itself out.

I like it too. In a good part of matches, the winner wouldn't change if the opponent didn't retire.
