Re: Tennis Tipping | Managers Thread

ALL MANAGERS SHOULD EDIT THE FIRST POST IN EACH TENNIS TIPPING THREAD TO INCLUDE THEIR EMAIL ADDRESS AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE because you know this site crash later if not sooner.

We didn't miss the entire day, I think many players got their picks sent in one way or another (how many didn't?). And can you update the scores today? And please name the tiebreaker for tomorrow.

It's sad for some players who didn't get their picks in, but we have to think about the overall picture here. The game must go on...

Re: Tennis Tipping | Managers Thread

Hi, a question about the draw sizes of different tournaments. I just noticed that the Barcelona tournament next week has a draw of 54 players (possibly because it's an ISG tournament), and there are, as of now, 35 players signed in. It means that if the entry list won't fill up during the weekend, there will be a lot of bye's in the 1st round. At the same time, the Casablanca tournament is still half empty, with only 14 entries so far.

The draw size may be determined by the size of the tournament, but I was just thinking maybe it would be wiser to limit the Barcelona draw to 32 players, at least till the Casablanca draw is full. That would make a better balance between the tournaments. Possibly this is too late to change anymore for the next week but how about in the future?

Re: Tennis Tipping | Managers Thread

The draw sizes we use here in TT are nowadays exactly the same size as in the real ATP tournaments. This is done to make the game feel more realistic and it's easier to determine the ranking points for each tournament, when you can copy the points directly from the ATP. Barcelona is 56 singles and 24 doubles, Casablanca is 32 singles and 16 doubles. I think there should be enough TT players here for both tournaments to have good fields.

I don't think we should make a balance between the tournaments. Each one has its importance, and I think we should keep it. Barcelona will have a better field, of course, it's an ISG. Casablanca can't have a similar number of players or the best players of the game. Like Labamba said, we keep TT more realistic in this way.
Probably, we won't have full draws, byes will need to be given. Anyway, we always have those guys that sign-up in the last day or become alternates. I also expect good fields for both tournaments.

Re: Tennis Tipping | Managers Thread

I might do a few of the Asian tournaments later in the year because they have the best timezone for me. I dont actually mind these European tournaments, as I can normally update the results in the morning after the games arer played overnight, but this tournament I just got caught off guard, with the site crashing and my alarm clock not working.

Does anyone want to run Hamburg? I will still do it if there are no takers, but it'd probably be better for a European to do it...

Put me down for Hamburg then. But if any other European based member wants to take this off my hands they are welcome.

Hi, you're quite welcome to do Wimbledon if you think you can handle it - it's quite a big one to do for your first tournament though
