I think everybody would agree that taking the effort to pick should be rewarded! So, for sure it would be most fair to let the person who send win!
I think it was due to a final where one player didn't send picks at all for both days and the other player had 0 points and 0 PTS and wouldn't either have won in the shootout. I really wish I could find that final to confirm - I've had a look through various Challenger finals and the manager thread from 2010 (which is roughly when I think it is) but can't see it.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

Ok, I found the case where it happened before and it was as I remembered which is slightly different to here - it was Cali in 2008 Here's the original discussion (posts 2075-2098 in the 2008 Managers Thread), however I don't think it clarifies this situation

Tennis Tipping Managers Thread 2008 (57 managers in 185 tournaments)

Anyone care to offer an opinion?

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

Gavnich77, great job finding the case

I think that anyone who didn't sent picks should loose automaticaly, but it doesn't work for second day picks. There are a lot of cases when people do not sent on the second day because the winner is already clear.

As for PTS I remember a recent discusion about the case where player didn't pick the full scores but only SRs for PTS matches. And the decision was that he doesn't lose automaticaly, he just gets all zeros for PTS purposes.

So the only way how I see player who sent a pick winning is on shootout, if we decide that wrong pick wins over no pick. But then it should probably be applied everytime when someone has an invalid pick.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

0 points > no picks (walkover), but in a two-day round sending on one day is enough to avoid the walkover, so yes the final should be decided on CB.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

It shouldn’t be a problem – but my partners father has passed away this week (cancer), I’m guessing the funeral will be next week sometime so it shouldn’t affect my hosting of Rome in 2 weeks time, but as there’s the Easter Holidays coming up if might turn out that the funeral is delayed to the following week (week of 16/4) if that happens it might mean that someone will have to take over doing Rome just for that one day.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

In Casablanca there was a team which was put into the ALT list as the EL maker showed one of the player as NR. They should have come last in the MD. Now both of them didn't send picks. However the last team in the MD who should have been in the qualies sent picks for singles. Should the team in the MD play in qualies and the other team who was mistakenly put in the ALT list replace them in the MD? Also just to make sure about the ALT replacement rule for doubles? If in a match only one player from each team send should the ALT team automatically be set here or should it be by ranking?

Thanks

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

I don't know what the others think, but I would replace them If you were lucky enough to receive picks from the team which should be playing qualies, I don't see why not. There's even a spot in the qualifying draw where they'd get a probable bye to the second round. But you would need to make sure these players know they would be moved to the doubles qualifying draw.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

Can someone please help me solve this problem in the Pereira thread?

Tennis Tipping #15a - Pereira - Congrats Boreas & lizzard11120/MikiKuba

I'm missing 7 picks with 2 empty matchups. There are no alternates so I don't have any players to move in. Are these differences correct and the top 2 losers also advance.

Tennis Tipping Ranking
Singles Championships: ★ ★
2013 CH Yeongwol (outdoor hard)
2011 CH Samarkand (outdoor clay)

Doubles Championships:
2013 Masters 1000 Montreal (w/joe87) (outdoor hard)
2014 ATP 250 Casablanca (w/joe87) (outdoor clay)
2012 Special Olympic Tournament London (w/traddles) (outdoor grass)

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

It would help me a lot is someone can post OOP in Marsen CH today I'm going to celebrate Easter with my family and I'm not sure when I'm coming back. (OOP should be split into 2 matches for the first round of qualies and the rest for the final round of qualies.)

Thanks in advance
