Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

Due to the big time difference between Melbourne and Hawaii, the 3rd round of the AO (R16 in TT AO) will be finished more than 24 hours before qualifying starts in Honolulu.

It is possible for me to wait to see who is out of the main draw, move the qualifers into the main draw by ranking and then do the qualifying draw? Or do I have to go through qualifying first and then place the lucky losers?

Tennis Tipping Ranking
Singles Championships: ★ ★

I think I'll do that. Hope I'm not breaking any rules. Can't find any.
I think it makes more sense than having qualifying and then 10 lucky losers.
It would also give the alternates a chance to get into qualifying.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

I'm not sure if I have made a mistake.

A player committed and asked for the other to confirm, as the other player hadn't confirmed by the time of the deadline I didn't add them to the Entry List :-

This team would be seeded 3rd or 4th in the main draw

There's currently four teams in the main draw awaiting Aussie Open results to see if they're still in.

Should that team be given one of those places when the Main Draw is done if there is a vacancy
And if there's not a vacancy should I put them in as No 1 ALT's ?????

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

One player commiting is enough for a doubles team to be in the draw. So they should be in your doubles draw.

I had this problem before, because I don't agree with the rule (esp. when the other player hasn't made a singles commitment)

IMO this rule needs to be sorted out.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

but when it's witten "Please confirm" it sounds more like suggestion than a commitment...

p.s. I don't claim anything, I just want more opinions

This is why the rule needs clarified, IMO.

As a manager, I would have taken that as a commitment for a team. The problems come when more than one player commits with someone or when Player A asks "anyone for doubles?" and Player B commits them, but Player A then doesn't read through the thread and later commits with Player C. (that doesn't read very well, I hope you know what I mean )

It's the greyest area of TT management. I don't see why players shouldn't have to confirm doubles. It's not exactly requiring a collosal effort to check the entry thread and make more than one post.

I know I am going to regret suggesting this - but this issue should be put onto the next TT Changes/Debate thread.

I am no longer a TT Board member, but for what it's worth I agree with AdeyC and Vilniete and disagree with l_mac.

When I managed, I often used to remind players of the "one player can commmit a partnership" rule, especially when the deadline was approaching, and suggest firm commitments.

As you say, it should be debated fully

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers 2012

In this case I think the entry should be accepted. One player committed and asked the other to confirm which the other did, so I don't see where the problem is, unless I'm missing something

Well lets hope that your voice has a lot more influence than mine and this issue gets put above the what font should have been used in Wimbledon 2009 thread poll this time
