Ok

Will you play as well?
If you play your opponents in singles and doubles would need to send to someone else

Re: GENIUS1787 CUP - ' Europe vs Rest of world' - Please someone to post Thursday OO

The captaincy being handed out amongst Board Members between themselves whilst there are other candidates just as well if not better qualified and not even considered is an absolute disgrace and totally undemocratic - I'll have no part of this event thanks - I'M OUT.

I have written a complete ‘idiot guide’ with screen-caps whilst doing it – which will hopefully become a useful tool to future managers and encourage new people to try out hosting – it’s being proof read by Gav as it was a first host and it’s probably better for it to be checked by people who’ve done more than just one event so far. Whilst others were suggesting that others should do it or saying it should be done, I actually got round to doing it and did it as no-one obviously had in however many years TT has been going. Quite frankly I’m disgusted that I’ve put all that work into it doing that then to find we’re at a year end event where it’s pats on the back amongst Board Members handing out plum jobs of captaincy amongst themselves with no consideration of even giving someone outside the chosen circle a go, why couldn't Board Members have written a guide themselves or are they too busy patting each other on the back. I don’t expect my suggested candidate to be chosen because I chose them – but I did at least expect that person to have the courtesy of at least being considered, which they clearly weren’t – and then listening to complaints about lack of managers elsewhere when things like this are blatantly rigged, wheres theres obviously no lack of captains.

I’ve put myself forward to host 5 events in Jan/Feb – the 5th because there was a shortage of volunteers.

I’ve input a lot of results into the MTF Statistics site recently.

I haven't done the above so that it can be jobs for the boys at the end of the year with outsiders not given a fair chance of consideration.

Re: GENIUS1787 CUP - ' Europe vs Rest of world' - Please someone to post Thursday OO

After taking some time I decided to state here that the decision to take me as captain is strongly connected to the fact that I am probably the one who had most contact with Andy (Genius1787).

I hope we´ll all have a good tournament in memory of him

Whilst I still stand by my comments in my post above – I’d say that this was a disastrous exercise in Public Relations in recruiting a Captain and would hope that lessons will be learnt for the next time, the fact that Boarder35/Alex had contact with Genius and would be captain anyway should have been stated at the beginning, and there should not have been requests for suggestions of captains made when it was already decided. I will not apologise for defending and speaking out against what I saw as a grossly unfair situation.

However, I also have no wish to have any part in spoiling any event that is held in memory of someone who must obviously been well loved by those who knew him. As Boarder35 stated in a PM to me these facts, I am man enough to make a public apology to Boarder35 that if these facts had been made clear at the beginning I wouldn’t have raised the points that I did, and apologies also to any friends of Genius’s if they feel this thread has been spoilt by my outspoken-ness.

Fernet, I'm not very sure to whom I must send my picks...

BTW, are there any live scores for these matches?

I'm confused, why are we sending to Marto? Isn't he on the other team? Or am I sending to Fede?

edit: ok nevermind... I think...

Because he is the manager and Fede is the assistant.
Last year Fede was the manager and team Europe sent to him, except for his opponents who sent to me
