I plan to enter Helsinki, so I will be around on a regular basis if needed

Sorry if I am asking what may seem stupid questions - so do I have to wait till my application is approved and if so by whom? And if it is I then start a thread right?

Ah OK - well I shall wait till it's confirmed (or not as the case may be)

As an aside - I do think that there should be a post stickied at the beginning of this thread laying out the procedure. I know people who have done it before know the ropes but it's not clear to someone who wants to try and have a go

Yes it's fine for you to take it. I would offer to help but I'll be at WTF at the start of the week when you would probably need most help.

Good luck

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers Thread 2011 (Managers needed for November!!!)

I know the rule now is that you should try to play in other tournaments that you don't manage but if I am going to be in the MD in one (Champaign) and QD (by virtue of the fact that I must be an LE) in other tournaments is it fine if I play Champaign?

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers Thread 2011 (Managers needed for November!!!)

As you know Mahqz and I manage Geneva.
Everybody was told that Mahqz will be the one picks should be send to but I received picks aswell which Mahqz didn't receive...

My question is now if We can accept those 3 sets of picks I received...
I know the rules say picks must be sent to the manager
But as we are 2 managers people might have misunderstood...

TTS:#191 (High: #121) W (2)2012: Alphen CH, Szezecin CH
TTD: #247 (High: #26)
W (5) 2012: Caloundra CH w/TankingTheSet, Memphis w/Hellcat, Arad CH w/Marto - 2011: Cherbourg CH w/Kirilenko-Fan, Miami w/Kirilenko-Fan
DTT Singles: High: #1 - W Australian Open 2011, Madrid 2011, Tokyo 2011
DTT Doubles: High: #3 - W Wimbledon 2011, US Open 2011

As you are co-managing the tournament, it is fine for the picks to be accepted. It is different from sending to someone who isn't managing the tournament.

Does this mean that I can always send my picks to the manager who opened the thread and not bother that maybe he is away for a weekend and someone else is managing qualification?

No, you should always read the instructions clearly and send them to the person specified. Strictly speaking, we can refuse to accept them in you send to the wrong manager but in this case the managers are working together and it is easy to see where any confusion arose.

It also makes life easier for the manager which ensures the tournament runs smoother for the players as well

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers Thread 2011 (Managers needed for November!!!)

I'm surprised I didn't expect such nice answer to my stupid question you must have a lot of patience

it's not that I'm complaining about accepting or not accepting picks (this situation has nothing to do with me personally) but I saw the rule about sending picks to a correct manager and I didn't know that there can be an exception...

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers Thread 2011 (Managers needed for November!!!)

In Buenos Aires there are four spots for LLs in the first round.
There were four qualy matches, so there are four potential LLs. Three of them sent (and will get in).
One player did not send for qualies and was replaced by an ALT there. He now did send his picks for Monday's matches. Can he still be an LL although he was not in the QD (as he was replaced there)?

^ I don't know if this has ever happened before
If they hadn't been replaced by an ALT in qualifying because there weren't any then they would be able to get in as a LL so I guess they should still be able to
