Re: Tennis Tipping Managers Thread 2011

Hi, would like to ask a SE question.

I have got into the semis in Acapulco (yes, thinly veiled brag). Would this allow me to enter Indian Wells and apply for a SE, or does the week gap mean I can't? Or would I have to make the final in Acapulco anyway?

Many thanks...

1. You would only get a SE for a tournament of equal or lesser value. Acapulco is a 500, which means you could get SE for a 500, 250 or Challenger, not a 1000.

2. SE is intended to reflect the ATP situation, and compensate players who are physically unable to travel in time. Qualies start Saturday, so a player playing a TT final Saturday/Sunday cannot "travel". A SE entitlement cannot be saved for a week.

3. Reaching a SF does not grant a SE except in the rare instance of Friday's real play being postponed to Saturday, so semi-finalists are still playing.

So if you reach the final in Acapulco, you would be entitled to ask for a SE in Dallas, Cherbourg or Salinas. In fact you have entered Salinas and have a MD place anyway.

Hope this makes it all clearer.

Re: Tennis Tipping Managers Thread 2011

one more question about SE

I am in the qualification of next week challenger (Cherbourg) and I reached the singles final of this week challenger (Casablanca)
I guess I'm eligible to recieve a SE but where should I ask for it? in the thread of Cherbourg or somewhere else?

.
is this like a TT rule?

In ATP a 500 SF gives you a SE into masters and a 250 SF gives you 500 SEs (i.e. equivalent or 1 level above)

I have given one of the SE spots to Orangehat in Dallas. Can I assume though that the original rule stands that as a top 30 player, he can't be seeded?

I've read the rule more carefully, and we are both half right.
A 500 does indeed give SE to a 1000, but a 250 does not give SE to a 500. My ignorance never ceases to amaze me!
