Permanant Doubles Partner - Top 50?

I'm currently searching for a doubles partner to premanatly play with. I'm ranked 46 in doubles and as a result if I don't get a permanant partner, once I get any higher I'm likely to find myself always partnering lower ranked players, and I would like to have a partner about my ranking(or better). Is there anyone out there top 50(or 60) who would like to partner me permantly in doubles? I'm going to play mostly ATP events with an ocassional challenger mixed in because of my low singles ranking. Any offers?

I think it is more important to choose a player who is reliable and committed, rather than basing your choice solely on ranking.

Perhaps you should spread your net a bit wider.

Good luck anyway.

yes, of course reliability is important, but that's not something you can really judge right away. If I started a partnership, and noticed that often my partner didn't send picks then I could tell he was unreliable, and possibly stop the partnership.

I always remember when I first started playing on WTA Tennis Tipping, my second week of playing someone was asking for a doubles partner - I put my name forward and they said my ranking wasn't good enough and wouldn't play with me - the following week in a tournament I got drawn against them in both singles and doubles and won both matches - the best feeling of all that was . Still get pleasure at seeing my WTA ranking higher than theirs in both singles and doubles, even more so now my ranking gains me direct entry and they have to play quallies now .

You can contact me on my TF Account or adriancollins@hotmail.com. I rarely log on here anymore as became TF Admin.

it's not as much that I won't play with someone with a low rank every once in a while especially in challengers, most challengers every doubles team get direct entry anyway so ranking doesn't matter that much. I can't remember ever turning someone down to play doubles in a challenger if they've asked me. When asking someone else I do often ask players closer to my rank, for the obvious reason of getting DE, or getting a seed, etc. When it comes to ATP events, I do get more picky about ranking, but as long as we get DE, I wouldn't mind playing with someone lower ranked. When it comes to a permanant partner however, I don't really want someone ranked around 150 for example as we often won't get DE into ATP events. I'm not trying to be stuck up, when it comes to be choosing a partner, and if I seem like that then sorry to anybody I've offended, and I'm not saying that a player ranked higher is better than a lower ranked newcomer, there are probably quite a few good low players and they're low just for the fact that they are just starting or haven't played much, etc. However, I've had to work my way through qualies and challengers for over a year to work my ranking up, and I know how hard it is to get big results when you have a low rank, and that's part of the reason I'd rather not have to go through qualies in doubles all the time. I have to struggle through that in singles week in and week out lol, but by all means if someone wants to play with me sometime just ask, I'll most likely agree to play with you even if you do have a low rank

Re: Permanant Doubles Partner - Top 50?

Unless you are content to regard yourself as a doubles specialist (Nothing wrong with that), I am surprised that you choose to play ATP qualies in singles rather than challengers week in week out.

Not only are you likely to come up against weaker players in challengers, but the points are mostly better too:-

For 1 win : ATP250 0 points Top challenger 12 points
for 2 wins: ATP250 10 points Top challenger 28 points
For 3 wins: ATP250 30 points Top challenger 54 points
For 4 wins: ATP250 60 points Top challenger 84 points
For 5 wins: ATP250 100 points Top challenger 120 points (and a title!)

You need to at least reach the final of an ATP250 to get more points for a similar success rate.

I am currently trying a few ATP tournaments because my new doubles partner wants this. My singles ranking is borderline, so I sometimes squeeze into the main draw. However if it starts dropping too much I will not hesitate to go back to challengers rather than play too many ATP qualies.

I hope I don't sound like I know it all, but I haven't done too badly in my first season, and I think it's as much playing the percentages as it is actual tennis knowledge.

Good luck once again.

Re: Permanant Doubles Partner - Top 50?

I have focussed on playing challengers pretty much all this year, I played only a couple of ATP events, and the grand slams. However, I'm trying to focus on my doubles for the rest of the year anyway. I know, that it is probably better off for singles to play challengers but even doing well in a challenger in doubles won't do a whole lot of good for me in doubles as my worse countable tournament I have in my rankings is around 40 so even a win in a challenger is only gaining me a little bit which at around 45 in the rankings will do little to move me up. By all means I'm not totally ignoring singles, but I have played for singles most of the year, and in doing so have got my doubles in the position where it is. It's a little bit interesting to decide which route to go with choosing tournaments in my position, and it's a fine line, but I'm going to try the ATP events for the rest of the year anyway
