Agassi Withdraws From 2006 SAP Open
February 13, 2006
Second-seeded and five-time SAP Open champion Andre Agassi withdrew from the SAP Open tennis tournament Sunday night with a lower back strain.
Agassi informed tournament director Bill Rapp of his withdrawal this evening after working out at HP Pavilion earlier in the day. During practice, Agassi experienced severe pain in his lower back and down his legs.
Agassi, who was scheduled to play wildcard American teenager Scoville Jenkins in a first round match-up on Monday night at 7 p.m., will be replaced in the main draw by a Lucky Loser – the highest ranked player who lost in the final round of qualifying.
