Monday OOP and Scores

COMMITMENTS/ENTRY LIST/DRAWS

1) Cancelled tournaments:
Current rule: if a tournament is cancelled, the players in the list are able to move to any other tournament being played in the week as regular entries.
Suggestion: players should be able to move to a tournament of the same level or lower as regular entries.

2) Top 30 players & challengers
Current rule: Top 30 players are allowed to play challengers in weeks when no ATP tournaments are played, but only as LE and unable to be seeded.
Suggestion: there should be no restrictions for top 30 players in challengers they're allowed to play.

3) SEs & doubles
Current rule: SEs are awarded to singles players.
Suggestion: SEs should be awarded to doubles teams.

4) WCs & doubles
Current rule: WCs are awarded to singles players.
Suggestion: WCs should be awarded to doubles teams.

5) Wild cards to local players
Current rule: no wild cards to local players.
Suggestion: the highest ranked player from the country where the tournament is played should receive a wild card.

6) Players with bye & Alternates/LL:
Current rule: A player/team who has a first round bye and then fails to send picks for the second round is replaced by an alternate who wasn't placed in R1 (ATP rule)
Sugestion: these players should be replaced by the best loser from R1.
Quote:
Example

Entry list (qualifying 8-player draw):
1. A
2. B
3. C
4. D
5. E
6. F
7. G
Alt. H (commited after the deadline)

Draw (A with bye)
(1) A vs bye
(3) C vs E
(2) B vs F
(4) D vs G

Day 1 (all players sent picks, player H didn't get into the draw)
(1) A 0:0 bye
(3) C 5:4 E
(2) B 2:3 F
(4) D 2:3 G

Day 2 (missing picks from player A / players H & E sent picks)
(1) A vs (3) C - Missing picks from A
F vs G

Current rule: Player A had a bye to the first round and failed to send picks for the second round. Player H replaces player A as the best alternate who wasn't placed in R1
(Alt) H vs (3) C
F vs G

Suggestion: Player A should be replaced by the best loser from R1
(LL) E vs (3) C
F vs G
7) Tournament level & eligibility of SEs:
Current: according to ATP.
Sugestion: A Challenger #1 (120 points) should be qualified for a SE to an ATP 250 & an ATP 250 should be qualified for a SE to an ATP 500.

Quote:
Current rule::
Challenger -> SE to a Challenger
ATP 250 -> SE to an ATP 250 or lower
ATP 500 -> SE to an ATP 1000 or lower
ATP 1000 -> SE to an ATP 1000 or lower

Suggestion::
Challenger #2 (90 points) -> SE to a Challenger #1 (120 points) or lower
Challenger #1 (120 points) -> SE to an ATP 250 or lower
ATP 250 -> SE to an ATP 500 or lower
ATP 500 -> SE to an ATP 1000 or lower
ATP 1000 -> SE to an ATP 1000 or lower
TB SYSTEM

8) TB system & retirements:
Current rule: matches with retirement do not count for Shootout purposes when both players pick the same winner.
Suggestion 1: if a set has been completed, it should count for Shootout purposes (set to the winner).
Suggestion 2: if there's a retirement, the score of the match should counrt for TB with all the unplayed sets/games being conceded to the winner.
Quote:
Example

OOP:
Blake vs Ljubicic SR1 PTS
Rochus vs Karlovic SR2
Kratochvil vs Chiudinelli SR3
Alejo vs Falla SR4

Results:
Ljubicic def Blake 63 10 ret
Karlovic def Rochus 76 76
Chiudinelli def Kratochvil 61 10 ret
Falla def Alejo 06 60 60

Picks:
Player 1 (1 correct picks, 0 correct SRs)
Blake 2-0
Rochus 2-0
Chiudinelli 2-0
Alejo 2-0

Player 2 (1 correct picks, 0 correct SRs)
Blake 2-1
Rochus 2-0
Chiudinelli 2-1
Alejo 2-0

Diffs:
Blake 2-0 vs. Blake 2-1
Chiudinelli 2-0 vs. Chiudinelli 2-1

Current rule: Retirements do not count when both players have the same winner (Blake & Chiudinelli). Proceed to the next TB step.

[b]Suggestion 1: SR1: one completed set (Ljubicic 63). SR3: SR doesn't count for TB. Player 2 wins the match on Shootout SR1 (set to the winner).

Suggestion 2: SR3 counts for TB (Chiudinelli was leading 1-0 in sets when Kratochvil retired, so the SR of the match is counted as Chiudinelli 2-0). Player 1 wins the match (1 correct SR).
9) Alternative TB step to substitute the Shootout:
Current rule: Shootout system.
Suggestion 1: count a point if a player gives more sets to the winner than their opponent only in matches where both players picked incorrectly. The player who has more points wins the match.
Suggestion 2: count the number of sets given to the winners of all the matches, irrespective of the opponent's picks. The player who gives more sets to the winner wins the match.
