From our server technician:
As many members will have no doubt noticed, we have experienced a number of serious technical problems in the past few days. We apologize for any inconvenience these issues have caused you. Our team has been working around-the-clock to resolve these technical difficulties and to restore normal service. Unfortunately, the problems were not as straightforward to resolve as originally thought.
For those interested in a few technical details: It appears there is a serious compatibility conflict between the hardware and the newly deployed operating system software that powers the database end of the WTAworld.com website. We are now investing in new hardware and working hard to complete this switch within the next 24-48 hours. This new database server will be far more powerful than the old system - so you should notice a significant improvement in performance upon re-opening.
We would also like to point out that the only way for us to uncover the mysteries behind these technical troubles is to expose visitors to the website - when we've applied new fixes geared at resolving problems. It is impossible for us to simulate the high load and traffic seen in normal operating conditions.
We do appreciate your support and understanding through this difficult time.
In the meantime, I'd like to invite you to the "WTA" section of our MensTennisForums.com where you can continue to discuss women's tennis with WTAworld members while we work on restoring normal service.
The WTAworld.com Team.
