I am a bit confused about what posters can or cannot do/discuss regarding the banning of any particular user.
I noticed some posters such as GSMnadal & Motorhead were banned in the last couple of days. Were they banned because they protested against the banning of topspindoctor in an inappropriate way?
How many posters were banned as a result of their posts about TSD's ban?
I can't see the thread asking for the unbanning of TSD anymore. Was it deleted? If so why?
Are such threads commenting on a poster's ban not allowed anymore?
Threads commenting on a poster's ban are not allowed, no. I don't think they ever were, at least not during my time on the forum. I don't recall other threads being allowed, other than the one about Corey Feldman's permanent ban.
when will the Banned User thread finally be updated? There were zillions of bannings after the ban of T-Doc, but they aren't still in the thread.
It will be updated when an admin finds the time. We all work full-time jobs, and have a lot of things going on with getting the new moderators started, not to mention all the administrative work on the forum as well.
I'm curious as to why everything needs to be discussed over PM. There are loads of people with the same question. Wouldn't it take way less time to just answer them right away in a thread like this? Now it just feels like people have something to hide.
I don't really see much to answer here. We decided that the poster in question would make a good moderator, and that is pretty much the end of it. Nowhere does it state that previously banned or infracted users can't become moderators, obviously there is some sort of limit, but we take the user's recent behaviour into consideration as well and believe that people can change for the better. In fact, there are more than 1 moderator with a card to his name, and we have experienced no problems regarding that.
It makes me a bit sad that people here are so quick to judge, and I hope that the 6 new moderators will all be given a fair chance.
