Thank you very much Masterclass for opening this thread. I can never write as good as you, you took words from my mouth. Finishingmove also wrote a very good and fair post.
Sorry for my long-winded post and my bad English. What I want to say is that: I have been here on the first day since the board was being formed and I have seen a lot. Not that I am totally biased towards CD as we shared the same favourite player, but from what I saw all through the years, there were/are a lot of posters who are worst than him but didn’t get such severe punishment.
We all know MTF is a tennis site and we come here mainly to talk about tennis. CD, though his tennis knowledge is sometimes unconventional or questionable and his posts are repetitive, but he has only one aim: to discuss tennis, unlike some others who only come here to fool around and insult the players he/she does not like and their fans. He never spread hatred towards other players or other fan base.
We all know his favourite player is Rafa, but even though Roger is not his favourite, and he got a lot of attacks from his fans, he still created a thread to applause his achievements:
Federer : The Mother Of All Quests : 20 Slams And 100 Titles
Federer : The Mother Of All Quests : 20 Slams And 100 Titles.
More than that, he also invited some other posters from other message board to join MTF, isn’t this a merit to the forum?
He also encourages harmony of the MTF by inviting all posters, disregard of who his/her favourite player is, to join in the Castle thread. You can see that it has now reached volume 54 and the posters who post there contain a lot of roger fans as well. Do you see very often such harmony in other chat threads? Even though I am a Rafa fans, I was not being welcomed in the Rafa chat threads in the Rafa forum, some posters made it clear that I was not being welcomed. So you can see CD is very generous for allowing Roger fans to post in his castle thread.
Ye olde Castle #54 - Welcome to the fantastic voyage at the castle
Does he have no flaws? Of course not, he could get emotional easily and attacked his haters relentlessly. But if you were him, all you want is to discuss tennis and someone keeps challenging you, saying your threads are rubbish and shit, and that your favourite player is a monkey, dirty cheater, doper, pig, faking injuries. Karma got him so now he is really injured and could not participate in Olympics ........ How cool can you get? But still, he was too considerate (or too foolish?) not to report them (but sadly they reported him non-stop) but to face them direct, and thats why he got those infractions.
Name calling is a very subjective thing. For his name calling “ejaculon”, I don’t know what this word means. I don’t think he meant insult or harm but if most people don’t like it, he should quit it. But I also saw him given a lot of bad names by other posters as “Clay-fail”, “Clay-douche”, “Idoit”, “No brain”, are they good as well?
And in answer to some posters’ query as to his ban. If my memory served me right, CD was never being permanently-banned. The maximum penalty that he got was 6 months when he first joined the board. He opened a thread asking the mods why they deleted his threads and got this punishment.
I know that rules are rules but they are dead and not lively like humans, we humans are prone to making mistakes. Even in a law suit, mercy would sometimes be given in consideration of human feelings, let alone a message board. So I wish the mods would re-consider CD’s ban, he deserves a ban, he needs to reform and behave better, but not permanently.
Thanks in advance for taking notice.
