You seem to have misunderstood me. It is MY personal opinion that in this particular case, a three months ban is too severe.
So it is a personal opinion. Mine.

Re: leng jai's ban

The mods hiding behind some self-made guidelines as if they were universally applied laws which could not be changed. Leng Jai is a much liked poster who made an elaborate joke and he gets 3 months ban for it while utter morons wishing death get the same treatment? I can't even describe how pathetic that "rules are rules" argument sound.

Unlike most idiots on this board, if the mods would talk honestly with leng jai and clearly tell him in a pm that he cannot create another account again because then he'll get permabanned or something the like, then he would likely respond like an adult. You can't say that about most other clowns on the ban list.

In rare cases like this, the poster's motives has to be taken into consideration. This is simply ridiculous.

Abraxas banned too. Have to say I saw that one coming.

Still, seems the mods have been trigger happy this week.

I'm guessing abraxas was banned for his "offensive" avatar. Still no clue why BH was banned.

Re: leng jai's ban

The rules should be applied, but the rules aren't perfect, so they should also be changed.

Troll double account / sock-puppet = 1 month ban
Double account made to circumvent ban = 3 month ban

Why not something like that?

The situation is under review, but it's worth pointing out - he hasn't even done a month yet, which is the minimum people seem to agree he should get for what he did

But it seems, despite this knowledge, he chose to go ahead and create an account, which is odd, unless he didn't care about being banned.

Anyhow, I understand the comments about his actions being "harmless", etc., so I will discuss this with the other mods.

But know this: the proper way to moderate the forum is to apply the rules consistently. It is unfair to treat members differently merely based on the fact that they are funny or popular (or that they are not popular).

The more reliance on subjective or contextual factors, the less consistency there will be, and pretty soon, each mod will be applying their own version of the rules. That's something we want to avoid.
I agree that there should be consistency and I already posted my feelings about this elsewhere regarding Leng jai but I also think now might be the time to alter rules for banning. Those that do harm here seem to be banned for less time than those who don't. I also read BH's post that appears to have gotten him banned and it was an incredibly sarcastic and succinct response to someone he has issues with and vice versa. Maybe it is my work; maybe it is my own sarcastic humor but I actually laughed at that post.

I think it pretty much depends on who is reading what. I find Abraxas extremely offensive, short sighted and pretty good at politically trolling. He has an agenda which he has been allowed to post about forever. But rather then report his posts when he pisses me off, I turn him off.

I disagree. I think the mods here do the best they can with the number of posters that exist; the number of whiners around and the number of total fanatics that exist on this site.
