I like this idea. Maybe we should have something like a parole board after two years

Agree. 90% of his posts outside of the game threads were constant trolling, baiting and provoking.

John, who to me seemed to be a bit depressed at the time, finally snapped after CD refused to stop this trolling act. Unlike last year's ACC warm-up, John now obviously couldn't control his anger when CD was insulting him and threw everything he had at him.

CD of course resorted to reporting John and that was the end of it.

However BigJohn was in no way a model poster and could be very offensive at times so while the actions leading up to the permaban were unexpected, the ban itself was no shocker.
CD is not an angel on this forum, but it was BJ who started shit stirring against CD a long time ago, and he would not let go. CD didn't have a problem against the guy before that. Even the thread you are talking about was started in order to provide the opportunity for CD bashing/provoking. I applaud his ability to fool people.

On a reckless forum like MTF where everyone's spilling assaults, bans have no meaning in the first place. In a decent formal discussion forum, yes. But that'll kill the charm of this joint.

There is an awful lot that you're squeezing together in that unassuming bolded portion.

Surely you recognize that there's a difference between, for example, calling a poster childish and telling a poster that you hope they die. As "reckless" as MTF may be, it tolerates the former but it does not tolerate the latter, and rightly so.

MTF does not tolerate the latter??

Where have you been? MTF has allowed the worst abuses, extreme interpersonal remarks and rants repeatedly. One only needs to stay here a while to see how doggone informal this place is.

Its like an asylum. But it suits MTF. That's the thing. As long as it doesn't become racist or sectarian, selectively intolerant to particular posters (like Magician - which is really bad because he was after all only one among the many still floating here), or overly pornographic in tone & language (as there are several kids logging in), I think MTF pretty much suits people who log in to unwind.

I've been here, and longer than you have.

Wishing death is a bannable offense, and that ban is handed out with startling regularity.

Other insults that are generally vicious or harsh in tone will often receive an infraction or ban if they are reported. Ask the mods. They'll be happy to tell you.

Couldn't agree more.

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

I would give them the possibility to post in an special thread: the permabanned thread where these scoundrels could post freely and where we could bully them gladly.

So you didn't notice that BigJohn was not at a stable peace of mind at that time? He seemed more broken down emotionally than downright calculating - hence his final maniacal assault on CD and subsequent ban. Though yes, he might have started the thread to encourage people to fight CD and his classic "blind hater" line.
Now, I don't know which one of them started it all, but as for John not being able to let go: CD was exactly the same. Mr Hercules could enter threads at random and call John Infectus or whatever his retarded nickname was. I really can't see how CD is considered the innocent one here. Even in the "blind hater" thread, CD started being rude but then John snapped and it was all over. It's like the one who reports the other first, wins.
