Re: Weeks at #1

Do you like the match so far, bunk?!

I was amazed at how consistently high the quality was. Even if the scoreline hadn't turned out to be extraordinary, it would have been a great match.

Re: Weeks at #1

oh definitely... truly amazing.

I HATE that a set was decided on a bad call.... that just really bugs me. even more of course that the call was bad against Andy but still lol it just sucked.

I'm also amazed by the tension.. it was high from the opening swing it seems. I mean like the stuff you could hear them say to themselves and stuff was just kind of wild!

On the other hand, I can see how far Andy has come... not only does he look a lot bigger (muscular), he's just more composed and things look less forced.... not sure if I'm making sense or not but I just see changes. Maybe it was from the injuries he had after this match where he had time to work on fitness since he couldn't play, maybe it's just him getting older and finishing growing, whatever.... not sure who gets credit, but even though he played amazing during the match he has come such a long way since then too. Especially with the return.... he missed a lot of pretty easy second serves in this match.

And finally... and yes of course I'm biased... but I don't see how you could really hate Andy's game if you've seen the match. Yes it revolves around his serve but he went to the net A LOT (and many times did quite well up there) and he also hit some great backhands and also moved around quite well...but whatever.

I'm gonna watch til the end of the 4th set and go to bed.... tomorrow night I'll get through the 5th lol

Re: Weeks at #1

Yes, I remember thinking how much more complete his game was at that point, with him up at the net and hitting all those slices all the time. That was the first time I really felt myself what other people had been saying: This kid will be a grand slam champion someday!

Yeah, bad line calls suck. There's actually one in the match which would have given Younes a match point! but as it was, a coin flip could have decided that match, it was so close.

enjoy!

I clarified myself before I even saw your reply - I meant how far Andy's come even since then!

But yea... the match obviously so close, from the stats to how marginal the big points were, etc... and they both had legit chances that they missed.

Definitely is living up to the hype everyone's made it out to be - and I'm not even at the 5th set yet!

Re: Weeks at #1

hey bunk, if you don't mind telling, where did you purchase your tape from?

I need to buy Agassi's win in the French Open final 1999, and I also want Seles/Graf FO 1992.

thanks

I love both Monica and Steffi.

And I wanna order some tapes now too. So if Deb could help us out, it'd be great.

Re: Weeks at #1

Some of the "classic" moments in the 5th set are just unbelievable. Almost getting the match point, and the match point saved were also some incredible intensity and shotmaking.

Re: Weeks at #1

great, I can't wait! One of the funniest things watching it retrospectively is listening to the commentary knowing what's to come..... and they say things like "El-Aynaoui is clearly tiring" and stuff and it's like "if only you knew" LOL
