Deb...if I can defend a retailer, for the moment, on why they're not answering the phone. Before working for the County, I worked for a midsized regional retailer and our policy was...that if we were busy and had warm-bodied customers in the store, we ignored the phone...under the premise that the person in front of us was the more important. While that's not always true, and we didn't have to "use" that policy often...it seemed to make sense. Margins are so tight these days that every retailer is having to cut corners and personnel is the biggest, easiest place. The other side to that is that here in Richmond, we're at virtual "full employment" and EVERY store has "help wanted" signs in the window.
