Re: Pete's first slam- U.S. Open 1990 video highlights!

a thousand thanks RonE, will watch it later

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.

watched a bit pete vs Mcenroe, Pete could return Mcenroe's serve with no difficulty, may be its because Mcenroe served too slowly

also, oh god, lady Diana was there, and Jim was so gracious even he lost and pete, i was stunned to see him so calm even he won a big title!

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

It's amazing to see how his game has changed and developed between the early years and how he improved it virtually every year!

About Wimbledon 1993 Pete certainly handled it but he was anything but calm, he had a severe bout of tendonitis in his shoulder before the tournament began that gave him problems serving and you could see how nervous he was serving for the match against Jim crouching down and sitting on the chair to pace himself. And that second after he finally converted match point and had his arms in the air he squinted his eyes shut for a second you could see how relieved he must have been!

No, Pete was under huge stress since he lost to Stefan Edberg in the 1992 U.S. Open final he himself said that was the one event that taught him that no one cares who comes in second place and from that moment he was ok with just making semis and finals but since that moment he just hated to lose. That 1993 Wimbledon overcoming Agassi in such an epic match, then Becker then Courier in such a tight final with the weather so hot that was huge huge huge for Pete! I hate to think how his carreer might have gone had he lost that final to Jim

thanks for your description RonE

then may be its lucky that he got courrier in the final coz he used to beat courrier

i know i am too silly, but still soemtimes i think he should win 17 slams he should win (96 wimby, 95 ao open and may be 00 us open)

Yes, he won only 11 "Masters-Series" titles, because he lost too many finals, excatly 8 !!! ... Key Biscayne 1995 (Agassi), Indian Wells 2001 (Agassi), Paris-indoor 1991 (Forget) and 1998 (Rusedski), Cincinnati 1991 (Forget) and 1998 (Rafter), Toronto 1995 (Agassi) and Stuttgart 1996 (Becker)...

Re: Pete's first slam- U.S. Open 1990 video highlights!

thanks Greg

i was thinking may be he did not play all the master Series, i remember at that time it was called "Super 9 Series", i thought he did not play the 3 clays ones, so fewer titles

then i am surprised coz pete seldom lost in finals

oh the bad mouith Greg R beat him?

but still pete has the last laugh coz Greg who said "Pete is half step slower, a player belongs to the past ....." has zero slam while pete has 14, hahaha
