Pete Grand Slam lost Finals - in Perpective - Part II - Hewitt 2001

Here I'd like to open a somewhat sad, yet interesting topic series, to dig deeper into the "why's" and "how's" of Pete losing in a GRAND SLAM final.

Part II - 2000 US open - def. by Lleyton Hewitt

I thought that in this Particular match Pete looked really tired, as they say in tennis, there wasn't enough left in the tank, after amazing wins over 3 ex-US open-champs.

It was odd though, I thought Pete played a fine 1st set, but after losing the tie-break, he seemed defenitely lost out there.

- I say he wasn't at his highest level of fitness on the day.
- Also Hewitt was totally over Pete's serve, which seems the key to beating Pete, but Pete maybe made more errors at the net than he usually does.

What are your comments people ???

yes he lost mainly because he was tired, but also Hewitt was on fire at that time, pete used to have problems with Hewitt

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.

Re: Pete Grand Slam lost Finals - in Perpective - Part II - Hewitt 2001

No look where hewitt was after being number 1 for only 2 years LOL, no Grandslam quarter finals in all of 03 hehehe. Oh and BTW It was like Pete goin up against a taller Michael Chang. He just keeps going and going and if ur not fully fit He will break u. I think the fact that pete at least won the first set 7-6 at a time when his confidence was completley shot, in a year when he had no titles, after beating all those past champs and taking 10 sets to do it in, along with the mental drain, and the fact that pete wasnt the player he used to be. He was just not ready for what Hewitt had. Pete woulda needed some more. Oh and Pete was probably mentally beaten after the first set loss.

THe loss to Hewiit was tough to take
I thought it was verbad, hurtful ( as a fan) it made Pete look old, a step slow & in agony
once again Pete was clearly tired having reached the final.
Cann't imagine what was going on in his mind, losnig 2 straight finals
Pete was down mentally b4 he was physically
& Hewitt just took full advantage

When Meeting Someone Greet them by Saying SALAM
