It's OK - I already know where he's staying - but I was too shy to turn up without an invitation!!!!

Re: News and articles about David

Found this on David's website:

Basically it says(quick translation), that David has been preparing for Wimbledon with his physical coach and friend David Andres.(David and David the dynamical duo )
Ferru is in good fisical and mental condition at the moment, his training has been hard but as always he has put a lot of effort in it. Ferru also told us that training with David Andres makes everything easier and he is one of the best in at this job.

I just want to say one thing: David lay of the sleeveless shirts, please!

Re: News and articles about David

Well guess this doesn't come as news to many of us, as it was kind of expected - but David has been named in the Spanish DC squad for the tie aganst Italy http://www.lavanguardia.es/gen/20060...adal-york.html

I am not a DC fan myself but I know this will make David pleased and proud so I am happy for him. The other Team members will be Nadal, Robredo and Verdasco. As yet, the Captain says he hasn't finally decided who will be the second singles' player, or what the doubles' pairing will be as they have so many options to choose from, but he says that Tommy Robredo is almost certain to be one half of the doubles' team.

Hopefully Verdasco will play doubles with Tommy because I don't fancy the muppet boys even taking Davis Cup seriously

Re: News and articles about David

This is from the ATP site

Masters Cup Contender Ferrer Advances

Fourth-seeded David Ferrer, in contention for one of the six remaining qualifying berths for Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai, advanced to the second round of the If Stockholm Open on Monday.

Ferrer made it three career wins out of three against Andreas Seppi of Italy with a 6-1, 6-4 win in one hour and 18 minutes. Ferrer currently No. 12 in the INDESIT ATP 2006 Race and a winner of one ATP title in Stuttgart this year improves his ATP-level match record to 39-22. He will play either Spanish compatriot Feliciano Lopez or Juan Monaco in the second round.

Re: News and articles about David

i think u guys already know about this, judging by the pics thread, but i've translated this article into English below

"XABI "

Tu plato preferido? "¡LA PAELLA !"

¡Muchas muchisimas felicidades, DAVID!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

David Ferrer named honorary citizen of Xabia

The town council of Xabia, Alicante unanimously declared David Ferrer the honorary citizen of Xabia.

This is the first time the award has been given in Xabia. The mayor, Eduardo Monfort, and the councillor of Sports, José Francisco Erades, hosted the player's family at the town square to present the award.

The mayor stated it was a prize for personal effort and also for the support from the whole family, and highlighted the importance of having such a sportsman in the town, "we all feel we own a little bit of this sportsman", he said.

A ver proud and emotional David's mother, Pilar Ern, said it was also "a great honour for the family".

The award was presented on November 24 and during a dinner at the well-known restaurant Carrasco, where he received a gold medal and a scroll declaring him an Honorary Citizen. He was surrounded by all his loved ones - family, friends, coaches..

David Ferrer deserves this distinction because apart from being a great tennis player, he is also a great person. Wherever he goes, he is always proud of Xabia.

He recently responded in an interview without a moment's hesitation:

- "Where do you spend your holidays?"

"XABI"

- "What's your favourite food?"

"PAELLA!"

Many many congratulations, David!!

"Winning tournaments gives you a great satisfaction, but today I'm with the people I love the most. For me, it's a big honour to represent Xàbia all around the world. To be the honorary citizen of my town is an honour and gives me great pride; it's the best thing that's happened to me in my whole life".

Such was David's response to the praise and affection of the authorities and residents of Xàbia, during the official proceedings which highlighted his human quality, perseverence, effort and sacrifice.
