Re: Clay Court Season 2007

Roddick played pretty normally in the first set and if he had managed to serve out the set, he wouldn't have tanked it, I guess. But he's been awful from then on.

Anyway, a poor Gael is able to hit tons of UE whatever the opponent does and he doesn't today, he barely makes any UE, really.

4-1 after a bit of a struggle again on his service game. His dropshots are so awful, it's embarrassing.

5-2.

6-3, the end of the match was a joke, Gael wasn't even playing well anymore, but Roddick didn't fight at all.

Good win for Gael though, he looked so relieved at the end, it was a joy to see!

Re: Clay Court Season 2007

Not many news in L’Équipe today, they just have an article with a comparison of Gael and Aravane Rezai who are both showing some good form in last minute after a big slump. Here are a few quotes:
Quote:
He says he can’t wait to meet Tarik, but the later the better.
All his matches in Pörtschach have been close and he’s happy to have been able to close them out in 2 sets. Roddick wasn’t playing like in Rome and was attacking well with cross sliced shots yesterday, but the match against Lee had helped him adjust his game. It’s definitely not easy, but he’s „recharging his batteries“ a little bit…
He knows Hewitt will be tough, but he will absolutely try to reach the final, even though that means he might be kind of tired for Paris.
Again, he says everything hurts a little bit. And it’s very hot in Pörtschach. He hopes he will have enough time to recover for Roland where he has pretty high goals (let's not get overexcited ).

And the Austrian articles all seem to say it was a spectacular match and he was playing great, etc. I found Roddick pretty terrible yesterday, but he means he felt like he was hitting the ball pretty well…

Re: Clay Court Season 2007

It's not easy, but on the other hand, I prefer that to Verkerk, Berlocq & Co. That would be better for his ranking, but
The first round is doable, Rochus has been having horrible results on clay this year, is he injured?

Gael is playing well again today! And much better dropshots today.

Re: Clay Court Season 2007

YESSS, 6-4!
The first break was very lucky, to be honest, but he did really well holding this advantage during the whole set.

Same as yesterday, not many UE and he hits some really nice winners when he gets a chance. One can not question Hewitt's effort today, he's fighting and playing normally.

3-1.

Re: Clay Court Season 2007

Yes, he does. Are you watching the livestream too?
Nicely recovered from his little break-down too. It was the same yesterday, he couldn't keep that level during 2 whole sets, of course, and it was obvious Hewitt wasn't going to waste this chance like Roddick did.
But what a way to save the set point, Gaelou.

YESSSS, now don't be French and serve it out, please!

Oh please, Lleyton, give him that stupid match point, he needs it so much.

Double fault on match point.
