Re: @->-- The WHO ARE WE Thread -->-@

hello everyone, this thread is a good idea to make acquaintance...
as you said, it's a little scary for newcomers. I've been following this site for months without having wrote a lot. Usually, I go on gasquet's official site but I like Monfils too.

May I introduce myself : I am a 25-year-old guy who lives in Rennes (France). I've been a student law for years, prepared the barrister's competition while working for a company and have just decided to change my way to become a teacher (more inclination). Now that I've got more time for myself, I can write there .

I like drawing, playing guitar, music...Favorite bands : Pixies, Radiohead, SOAD, Beatles, Tool, Elliott Smith and much more.
'reading : Stephen King ("it" is my fav' SH's book), Boris Vian, Kerouac, Barjavel, Nothomb etc.
I like to travel too : I have been in USA (west coast), UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Spain, Italia, Switzerland...

And I like to live it up of course.

About tennis : I'm following Gasquet, I like Federer, Monfils, Nalbandian and d' like to see JMDP play...

Hope I haven't bothered you .

see you later

Re: @->-- The WHO ARE WE Thread -->-@

Of course you haven't bothered us! Voyons

Feel free to post here whenever you want, same for the Gasquet Blowers Chat thread

It's funny that you just went from law to teaching... How come? What are you teaching now?

Ohh... you play music, that's cool. How long have you been playing guitar?

Hehe, at least, now, seeing your fav' bands, i understand why you got that username
I don't know most of the bands you named that well, except for SOAD and the Beatles... But you seem to be more into rock, aren't you?

Ehhh... Stephen King! Amélie Nothomb! I'm almost done reading "It"... I really love it (but, lol, i hate it because there are a lot of clowns in ads in the metro here... it's freaky )
Boris Vian... i've heard of him, but i don't really know what kind of books he writes... And the others, i don't know either *inculte ^^*

Oh, the TMC final must have been terrible or great for you, depending on the point of view. You had two of your fav' players competing to win the title... i wouldn't have known who to support more ^^ But then again, at least, you knew you'd be happy in the end, no matter who won.

Take care
(sorry if i've been too curious ^^)

Re: @->-- The WHO ARE WE Thread -->-@

We are having a namesday party tomorrow I am still curing a hangover after a Wednesday party in my dormitory.
But this time it's familiar, so it should be calmer.

I think namesday is celebrated only in Poland...

Re: @->-- The WHO ARE WE Thread -->-@

don't worry for being too much curious parissima, I think that's quiet the interest of the thread

About your questions :
I can't say I'm teaching anything because I've just begun my preparation, but it's about the primary school. The reasons why I've changed are simple : I like to communicate with youngsters and like the idea of teaching. Moreover, I realised that I wouldn't want to work so much that I couldn't do my hobbies like this has been before ...A reaction a bit late but I do believe I'm not decrepit yet

About music, I've been playing guitar for about ten years, mostly rock as you said but I like variety, ska, reggae, electro, funk etc; lots of stuff actually.

About reading, don't say you're uncultivated...If I do remember well, I am seven years older than you, that's quite something in a life ...and now I'm feeling decrepit, thank you

About the TMC final, I was divided actually...I'm a little bit sad in fact because I wanted Federer to equal Mc Enroe this year but a big cheer to Nalb' of course... Above all, I was very pleased to see their incredible shots, and that's the most important thing I think

greetings

namesday = a special day for your name. Here older people don't celebrate b'day but namesday... It's always nicer to say "Today is my namesday" than "Today is my 50th birthday!". A day for Nathaliia is 1st December. Day for Andrzej (my dad) is 30th November. A day for Krystyna (my mom) is 5rd December.
There can be more dates for your names but the right date is the nearest after your birthday

I think it's idiomatic "U cioci na imieninach" ("At aunt's namesday") = should stand for a big family booze. When you look tired in the morning and somebody asks what's up, you anwser "I was at aunt's namesday" and things are clear. All namesdays of aunts, uncels, grandparents, your parents, cousins... ahhh...

what an interesting excuse to drink...I should have said that the numerous hangover days after when I was to explain why I hadn't done my work to a non-cooperative law teacher Anyway, I'm gonna try to import it in France, and so we couldn't criticize globalisation/europeanization anymore

More seriously, it's a good kind of custom IMO

A question about tennis : frenchs youngsters Inzerillo/Eysseric are going to play polish team Gawron/Koniusz in the 18's double draw of the junior Eddie Herr tournament. Do you know the level of your polish ?

Yes. They suck more than my article plus one of them is injured. No worry.

And I had a namesday party in my dormitory last Wednesday. The next day was my second worst namesday in the row. I really haven't had such a hangover for a year... But last year I had a free day and this year I had a lecture. I woke up and didn't know what's happening... Then I realized I'd better not drunk even minreal water 'cos it could have a sad ending. I was getting dressed and preparing make-up and a fancy hairstyle for an hour (it doesn't take me more than half an hour in the worst case), I took a bag, faked a smile to look as natural cool as I could, and then I saw two professors instead of one. I had a real swing in my head. I left 15 minutes earlier to do something with myself 'cos I was supposed to meet my dad who came to Wrocław to buy me clothes for gifts and take me home.
I bought a pill for headache and drink a little of mineral water. The fresh air did me good. The worst was that my friends said it's still possible to feel a bit from my breath I was drinking but I guess my dad didn't feel it, otherwise he'd shout at me to death. I was lookig so awesomly great yesterday and people were looking at me with jeleaousy, but no one knew what's inside of me. And it was the worst shopping in my life. I felt terrible till the late evening when I arrived home . Today I'm feeling some better At least I can laugh at myself and be ready for tomorrow.

My cousins will come We were drinking really a lot in France this year Old good times of summer. Are gone . Good French wine. Good Passoa. Good Heineken :rotfl:
