Re: Grass season 2011

GaŽl is in semis, he has a great level this week in Halle. For the moment he didn't lose a set. He's going to play Kohlschreiber this afternoon.

Re: Grass season 2011

Quite frustrated by this loss.

Last night before the rain came he was absolutely banging his serves down and I thought he had found a pretty nice groove after a really poor first set. Best I've seen him serve in ages actually, was nice to see what he could do when he wasn't digging himself into holes. Plus his concentration was much better, battling well in Kubot's own service games, was troubling him more when he came to net after a plethora of weak passes early on. Felt comfortable he'd take it in four.

Comes out today and loses six games in a row. Routine for Kubot by the end, he was still locked in and GaŽl looked like a man who had gotten out of bed five minutes before the warm-up. Though I get that impression quite often. Give a lot of credit to Kubot though, kept to the gameplan mostly, hammering back returns and looking to make GaŽl pass him which he couldn't.

It is grass, but it wasn't a bad opportunity. I don't think he'd beat fashionable man Feliciano even if he had won, probably not too close but you never know with him.

Was not aware of the off-court problems GaŽl is troubled by until I read something on it in GM though. Perhaps not fair to rip into him too much taking that into consideration. Would be interested to hear more on it of course.

His former physio and friend Philippe Manicom is in coma and is dying. GaŽl spoke about it on last Monday.

Thanks for the information, that's extremely sad.
