He's out for 3 weeks, so he will also miss Rome and Madrid.

He'll miss Madrid, that's what his agent is saying everywhere, I can't believe he would say it like that if it wasn't completely sure yet.

Edit: it's official, he has already pulled out of Rome and Madrid.

Only the exhibition to prepare RG well not a good news. He avoids the surgery at least but they were probably wrong to train so much last week

Re: The "Ready to get down & dirty aka clay season 09" thread

There are more news in L'Equipe today, it doesn't sound good at all for Roland-Garros:
Quote:

Presque fatal.

Re: The "Ready to get down & dirty aka clay season 09" thread

Everybody is saying he will probably miss Roland-Garros. The journalist calls Gaël then who confirms it's a possibility, it will depend on the MRI in 2 weeks. The ones of last week were not good. He's resting and can't do anything else.
Surgery has been mentioned, but the doc (Montalvan) says it wouldn't be the appropriate solution.
It's more serious than a tendinitis. When he was young, Gaël had the Osgood-Schlatter disease, which is common with active adolescents. Sometimes the pain returns. It already happened to him in the end of 2007 (and he was out for months then, but he had other problems too at the time). Still, things are not looking good for him for Roland-Garros.

Re: The "Ready to get down & dirty aka clay season 09" thread

He was sidelined from September 2007 to March 2008 last time, but it was actually a wrist injury which made him miss the whole indoor season. At least that's what we were told. And when he was about to come back in January 2008, he had to postpone his comeback again because of his knee and to wait until Dubai then.

Re: The "Ready to get down & dirty aka clay season 09" thread

indeed it is bad news, I dont think he will be able to play RG. His illness looks to need time to recover.
the good point i see in this story that maybe in future he will be more careful with his body like Tsonga is doing now.
Injuries never happen at good moment but this one happens at the worst moment in the season for him.

A come back only for RG is probably not a good idea but that's really really pity ! The name of the disease is just

Not good news at all I'm really bummed he'll probably miss RG, but he shouldn't strain anything just because he wants to play RG. Hopefully the MRI in two weeks will give us some more information on if he'll be able to play...

Re: The "Ready to get down & dirty aka clay season 09" thread

Hey, I am new to this messageboard. I have been reading your guys posts for about 2 years now and I decided I would join because I am a huge Gael Monfils fan. I have a question, about a year ago there was a video posted on canal+ about Gael and some struggles that he was facing. It was fairly long, about 17 minutes if I remember correctly. It appeared to be a documentary about him and what was going on. I tried clicking on the links to see the video, but it says it is not there anymore. Do any of you guys know where I could find that video? Thanks.
