Re: The "Ready to get down & dirty aka clay season 09" thread

saw him pratcising today with Chela, he drew quite some crowds, has a new hairstyle, some of his groundies and services were simply stunning, the guy has so much power, but CHela clearly showed, what Gael has to look out for: attack at the right moment.

GAel seemed in good spirits, he certainly looked most relaxed from all the players I saw practising, touched his chest after serving. I am not sure what this means. But overall he looked good.

I also saw Tipsarevic practising. There is danger ahead.

Thanks! Well, every match looks dangerous in his draw - but quite exciting too, I like his draw.

Tipsy won their only match:
2007 Zagreb Challenger SF Clay (O) J.TIPSAREVIC 6-4 6-4

He plays only in doubles tomorrow.

The new hairstyle looks really boring in the video.

He complains about both knees now, but it should be easier to play with painful knees on clay than on hardcourt - if he doesn't play marathon matches, of course.

I find the haircut horrible, but it was awesome compared to his game and his attitude.

Disgusting effort. Really one of the worst matches I've ever seen. What is going on with him?

Re: The "Ready to get down & dirty aka clay season 09" thread

i did not see the match, was he so bad?
It could be a problem of his knees.

I just rode that:

Battu 6-3, 6-1 par Tipsarevic, Gaël Monfils n'y était pas. Cette performance ressemble un peu à celle en 2007 ici même sur le central où il n'avait pas marqué le moindre jeu face à Stepanek avant de se retirer sur abandon. Avec son statut de TOP10, cette contre performance n'a pas été du goût du public puisque quelques sifflets ont accompagne sa sortie du central. En conférence de presse nous risquons d'en savoir un peu plus.
Is it true

Re: The "Ready to get down & dirty aka clay season 09" thread

I had the sound turned off, but he sure deserved to be booed off the court, he was pathetic. I'm not even eager to know what he's going to say on his press conference, the lack of effort was inexcusable.
He better spare us the knee story since he's been practicing 4-5 hours a day with his bad knees for one week now. It was more a problem in his head imo, we're getting used to it.

Re: The "Ready to get down & dirty aka clay season 09" thread

yes françoise you're right to being pissed off about gael attitude in that match.
From 3-1 in the first he did nothing after that.Pathetic and Awful attitude from him.
He should have eaten the serbian jerk alive, but he got eaten alive and seemed like it was "mormal", "ok" to him.

GASQUET

Tsonga - Simon - Monfils - Mathieu - Chardy - Baghdatis
Mannarino - Safin - Santoro - Gulbis- Nishikori

Re: The "Ready to get down & dirty aka clay season 09" thread

He mentions his knees a lot in the interview, but his staff said this morning that he was fine and able to play according to lequipe.fr.
He says there isn't much to analyze (indeed), it happens sometimes to completely miss a match, now he will get back to work, the clay season is long, it's not worrying.

I do find a bit worrying he's been putting up such a poor fight on the court lately! All the improvements he had made (consistency, attitude on the court...) are like blown away in his last matches.
