He doesn't say that, he just says Jo was playing too good and he had no answer (« Jo a trop bien joué pour moi et je n’ai jamais trouvé la solution. Comme j’étais un peu en dedans, je n’ai rien pu faire »), but that's what the journalist of L'Equipe writes - and since he is in Bangkok, they're reliable for that kind of informations.

Poor guy .

I hope his shoulder will be fine soon.

It was painful, but it can go so fast indoors when you play a guy who is on fire, and he must have felt so awful to get bitchslapped that way from Jo! I really don't feel like heaping criticism on him after that match.

I just remembered Tokyo is on outdoor HC anyway, so it will be a different story if he plays Jo again.
I've learned to ignore them for the most part...the public of MTF isn't exactly thoughtful or considerate.

Re: "Indoor" season 2008

I'm pretty immune to GM, but sometimes it really annoys me when I read that stuff on French tennis websites too. He's had a very decent season, semi in RG, good run in Beijing, back in the top 25 in the Race. People should rewatch 5 minutes of how he was playing in Dubai to better appreciate!
Always the same old criticism, he's useless and arrogant, Jo pulled him down a peg or two, etc. I don't think he's as arrogant as people say he is, he sounds like he's aware he has a lot of work to do.

I don't think it's serious according to the articles, it's more precautionary. But it's a bit worrying his shoulder is bothering him again after one tournament only (he had rested 2 full weeks after the USO).

In order to be ready for Vienna, I hope.

Re: "Indoor" season 2008

Exactly, that was the idea. He's in the draw of Vienna and since he plays an Austrian in the 1st round, it's looking good for a first match on Center Court, I guess. There should be a good coverage of the CC matches. (I'm not so sure of that anymore, Eurosport seems to have cut down the Vienna coverage a lot this year...)

Re: "Indoor" season 2008

3-6 6-1 6-3.
He got treatment for his shoulder or his neck at the beginning of the 1st set according to the German liveticker, but I guess it isn't serious.

Sexy now -> he'll need to do a lot, lot better!

Re: "Indoor" season 2008

In L'Equipe today:

He had a stiff neck before the match and it got even worse after a bad fall in the 1st set, so he's very happy to win under these conditions. He hopes it will get better after some treatment with the physio because otherwise, it will be tough against Stepanek.

Re: "Indoor" season 2008

I don't get the odds at all for today, Steps hardly is the favourite for the bookies, is he sick or something?
Even if Gaël was completely fit, which he isn't, I would favour Stepanek indoors.
