Very very very sorely missed in Melbourne. That is for certain. The crowd were against him in that Bagdahtis match but he really did win many fans that night. The Aussies loved his devil may care approach. We do love your Tsonga too but Gael will be welcomed back with open arms!

Gael's on the list for Dubai next week
I guess he's just forgotten to pull out...?

When he pulled out of Marseille, they said he would also probably skip Rotterdam, but Dubai would be his next tournament.
He's been training for quite a while now, he's apparently able to play.

But I won't be shocked if he pulls out again. He still has plenty of time to officially withdraw.

Re: No down under season in 2008

Gaël is in Dubai and he is going to play!

In L’Equipe today:
Quote:

Re: No down under season in 2008

He arrived in Dubai on Thursday evening because they thought he would have to play the qualies (I wonder why he had not entered the qualifying entry list...), but he will enter the main draw directly.
Champion: "It's about time for him to play again. His knee pain seems healed – I’m knocking on wood. He trained hard the last 3 weeks, we 'pushed' the knee in training and it responded well, so… I can even say I’ve been nicely surprised by his level. His condition training has been delayed so much that I haven’t set him any particular short-term goals. Gaël went through periods of despondency, it’s normal. But he never lost the desire to work." In the last few hours, he felt a little pain in the right elbow. "Nothing worrying", Champion says. "He will be fine."
