Dimitri Zavialoff

I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about Stan's coach, Dimitri Zavialoff. I know they've worked together since Stan was eight. But where is Dimitri from? Did he ever play tennis professionally? How old is he?

Dimitri is a Frenchie. His brother Grigori Zavialoff is Stan's former manager. Stan and Grigori announced the end of their four-year collaboration in November 2007.

Greg is 31 (http://www.tennisprediction.com/?a=p...=-1&sr2=1&tq=M), I don't know how old Dimitri is though.

Ooops, I googled and just found: Dimitri is 33

Hope this helps.

Re: Dimitri Zavialoff

Dimtri is from Alsace and is of Russian background. He has worked with Stani since childhood and he wasn't part of the Swiss tennis federation system.

His parents are friends with Stani's parents, he played juniors, but decided to get into coaching.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

From this thread: Wawrinka Interview: For many people, I'm the Swiss guy who loses

Quote:
TM: Dimitri Zavialoff is French, from Colmar. How did he enter your personal life?
SW: Our families knew each other for long. His parents and mine were close since they were very young. In fact, they had been seeing each other since they were kids. He had a try in tennis, but he stopped very quickly. When he was coming home for a holiday, he then often took care of me. Then, he went to an Academy that Bob Brett had created, near Lugano. Once this experience stopped after 2 or 4 years, I can't remember, he totally dedicated himself to me. Also a bit with my elder brother who wanted to have a try with me. He's now a tennis teacher for kids, between Lausanne and Geneva.
