i think he's going to get 15 from lyon (say atptennis.com) so he should be 22nd after lyon? is that right...i dunno we'll see but lets hope he does REALLY well in the next two tourneys but i dont think its really possible for him to get to the masters cup is it?

After Lyon

Yes that's 11 points, not all the tournaments give the same amount of points for the same number of rounds passed, it just depends of their prize money.

Ranking Oct.14 - Race: 24 (223) Entry system: 8 (2090)

Thumbs up after St Petersburg

Seb has reached his best entry ranking ever: Number 4 !!!

congratulations Sebastien!

Actually, this is probably only for this week since he has so many points to defend in Paris, but who knows, the way he is playing at the moment, if he's not tired he may not lose too many.
And in any case, whether for one week or more, great to see him in the top 5.

Ranking Oct.28: Race: 17 (313) Entry system: 4 (2465)

omg is this the truth? sebastien at #4 in the world?! what terrific news.

"Ferrero's going to be a tough one for anybody. This guy is the real deal already. He's got a chance at going a long, long way. This guy could be the best Spanish player ever; that's saying something." - John McEnroe, June 2000

omg thats soooo great! 4th!!
ok, i know how the entry system and champions race works...well i thought i did but ok if seb doesnt get many points in bercy, he can lose only up to 100 points on the entry system right, so he'll drop down to only 6th and no lower coz if anyone lower than novak (6th on entry system) wins, they can't get higher than novak...right?!
but then if u look at the champions race which merges into the entry system basically by the end of Bercy then the top 8 by the end of the masters cup...he can't get into the top 10 unless he wins it again.
i dont get it!!!!!!!! somebody please explain

I don't understand all the ranking subtleties either (more exactly, I don't bother trying to understand) but what you've got to remember is that because Seb reached the Masters Cup last year he's gonna lose those entry system points since he's not playing it this year (at least I don't think so!)

So he will necessarily drop after the Masters Cup.

On the other hand, since he has been doing better than last year in the past weeks, he has won some interesting points so it's not going to be a real bad fall I guess.

I think the most important is to be seeded in the top 16 at the Australian Open (although top 8 would be better).
