Re: The "Guga" chat thread!

I wonder if any of you have been to a tournament and if so where and when. I went both to Stuttgart outdoor and Hamburg several times and it was a great experience. It´s amazing how FAST tennis is live (it looks much slower on TV). And of course you can feel the atmosphere - although german crowds are not very wild . In Stuttgart 2001 - when Guga won - there were about 30 colorful brasilian fans and they were louder than the 5000 german fans altogether. Since then I love the brasilian fans - altough I generally behave in the German way myself

Hi Bratilio!

Is there a tournament in Denmark?? (WTA or ATP)?
Here in Canada we have 2 WTA and one ATP! Guga reached the finals in Montreal in 1997, but at that time I didn't even know who he was lol...!

So Guga publicly acknowledges Leticia as his girl friend. They have been together for almost 2 years, right?

GUGA CAUSES A STIR AT THE SAO PAULO FASHION WEEK

Fonte: EQUIPE GUGA

Known for his laid back style, Brazilian national idol, Gustavo Kuerten, caused a stir at the São Paulo Fashion Week, last night, when he showed up to visit the country’s biggest fashion event of the year.

The three time French Open Champion, who is getting ready for the ATP Latin American swing, which begins next week in Viña del Mar, left Santa Catarina after a long day of practice with coach Larri Passos, to visit the event for the first time in his life.

“I have always wanted to see how it is. People talk about the Brazilian models, about how good this event is, how it is growing and this time Motorola invited me to come and here I am,” said Guga, whose appearances at events like these are rare and who showed up at the Motorola Lounge, wearing black shoes, jeans and a black shirt.

Upon his arrival he was surprised to see so many photographers and journalists waiting for him at the event. “I don’t even know a lot about fashion, I am only dressed like this today, cause my manager bought these shoes for me, the pants are jeans and are the only ones I found at home and the shirt was picked by my girlfriend” he joked, after posing for the lenses and talking to the press about fashion, in tennis. “ I think it has changed a lot. If you look back 20 years, everybody was wearing white and nowadays there are companies making sleeveless shirts, colorful shoes and lots of different stuff. I would say Agassi was responsible for the big change and even I have already played in a bright yellow shirt. I think tennis is following the fashion.”

Guga enjoyed his time at the Motorola Lounge, with girlfriend Leticia Bottcher, walked around the Bienal building, chatted to models, DJs and Brazils most well known fashion consultant, Gloria Kalil, but was unable to watch any shows, which had, earlier in the week, models such as Gisele Bundchen and Naomi Campbell in the catwalk. Due to the heavy summer rains in Sao Paulo, his flight got delayed and when he got to the event, all shows had already finished.

“I can see it is a huge event, everybody is here, the designs are amazing and everybody seems to be having a great time,” said Guga, who went home with a new Motorola phone, the V300. “I am a very big fan of the mobile phones, specially cause I am always on the road. This one is really fashion, with this bright blue color and I can send pictures with it from anywhere in the world.”

Guga went back home in the morning and will spend the rest of the week practicing on clay with coach Larri Passos. He will play the next three ATP events on clay, in Viña del Mar, Buenos Aires and Bahia.
