Good luck to Juan in NY cheering thread

After not a very successful week in New Haven this week, Juan keeps trying to find his form at the US Open.

He is seeded 29 and starts against Nihikori from Japan. Good luck Juan

He also plays doubles with fellow "Tandilense" Maximo Gonzalez. Their first opponent is Coetzee/Wassen (seeded 13). Good luck!

Re: Good luck to Juan in NY cheering thread

And order of play is out as well. Juan plays tomorrow, Monday, 11 am on court 13.

VAMOS JUAN!!!! He has to defend lots of points (last year he reached 4th round), so a great start into the tournament would be good.

Re: Good luck to Juan in NY cheering thread

Unfortunately he lost in 4 sets I did see a couple of games of the 4th set. The Japanese guy played well and Juan is not the old Juan yet. I guess it will take more time to find his form again after his illness this summer.

Vamos Juan!

Re: Good luck to Juan in NY cheering thread

Juan needs some good wins to regain his confidence - and a new coach. He parted ways with Pancho Matelli just recently:

Re: Good luck to Juan in NY cheering thread

Thanks Reiko, didn't know about the split with Mastelli. Juan says he doesn't look for a new coach right now and that he can practice alone. He says he is going through a bad moment and that he lost his confidence. His confidence will be back with some wins. Asked about him being part of the DC team for the semifinal in Bs As he replies that today he played badly, but that in two weeks things could look different, that he works very hard to be in the team. If he is not one of the four players in the team for the semifinal he will be there to support the team and to help in practice sessions. (as always very good attitude)

Vamos Juan

Re: Good luck to Juan in NY cheering thread

Nishikori beat David Ferrer yesterday, so that makes me feel a bit better for Juan. Juan and Gonzalez are successful by reaching the third round in the doubles competition Now they face Bhupati/Knowles in the next round. Good luck!

Re: Good luck to Juan in NY cheering thread

My US Open Haiku:

This summer I learned
One detail I never knew
Pico's eyes are blue.

(ok so more like grey blue but that wouldn't fit)

I saw the last set of the doubles match Friday (was it Friday?), they played great (I don't know what the hell happened in the first set ), Pico was really happy after, smiling like crazy. Everyone wanted Maxi's autograph cuz he lost to Federer.

Re: Good luck to Juan in NY cheering thread

HAHA!!!
I still remember at the Aus Open when Monaco was practicing with Juan Carlos (this happened almost every day this year, total heaven for me), and everyone was going up to Monaco and giving him photos of Moya to sign, they had no idea!

Thanks for the update though Snoo Foo
