Re: Top 500 - Japan, China, Korea, Chinese Taipei and India

Go Soeda lost in the third round of Wimbledon qualies but he made in in the main draw as LL.
Two more Japanese played qualifying but Yuichi Sugita lost in R1 and Tatsuma Ito in R2.

Soeda will play qualifier Martin Fischer of Austria in the first round. Good luck!

Re: Top 500 - Japan, China, Korea, Chinese Taipei and India

Istomin from Uzbekistan is doing very well lately, reaching QF and SF respectively in recent ATP events, won a set against Nadal in the QF and his SF lost was also a 3 setter.

He just beat the 20th seed Wawrinka in their opening round at Wimbledon.

Great to see Soeda got thru btw!

Don't know if there's any appreciation thread for Istomin so I'll post here...

He is playing so well lately, I've followed his matches since his debut at Australian Open.
He's kinda on FIRE!

Re: Top 500 - Japan, China, Korea, Chinese Taipei and India

Thanks chewy, I'll update the first post later.

Yang is playing the Samarkand challenger this week. So far he has two impressive results (6:1 6:2 vs. Hernandez / 6:4 6:1 vs. Pashanski). Next up is Andrej Martin, so good luck Tsung-Hua!

In other news Danai Udomchoke seems to be back. He played Thailand F2 this week. Unfortunately he lost his 2nd round match vs. Karan Rastogi. But good to see him back...

Re: Top 500 - Japan, China, Korea, Chinese Taipei and India

A good week for Japanese tennis as Nishikori won the Binghamton challenger in New York and Tatsuma Ito won the Brasilia challenger.
As a result, Kei is now ranked #148 and Ito #189.
With Soeda at #109, there are now three Japanese guys in top 200, which is probabaly the first time in history!
