Why do people call Novak "Nole"?

I was just wondering because Nole doesn't sound like a Serb nickname.

And what is the proper pronunciation of "Nole"?

Thanks.

"Nole" is a Serb nickname! It's like this:My real name is Marija but they call me Maya that's the same case with Novak(Nole)!I'm sorry if you don't understand me,confused:maybe someone else know better than me!

The video's been removed, and I don't want to be pronouncing it wrong, so I'd love if someone could tell me how to pronounce it!

Djokovic's name...

Is Nole really pronounced like "no-lay"?

I always pronounced it Nole, like hole... Like how it would look to be spelled!

Hole?? realy.... I've never thought of it that way.

But yes, Nole like Mole, Frijoles, etc.

I want to have my evil way with Tommy Robredo

Re: Djokovic's name...

I was the same, but I still think of it as in 'hole'. It's like Dancevic...I know how you're meant to say it, but in my head I combine a few different [incorrect] ways It's a wonder I can say Björkman, right?
