So many posts, we went through that last one so fast :D

New chat thread :rocker:

I really shouldn't. :( I was grabbing the hospital wall everywhere I go because I didn't feel right. The prof told me to go talk to a patient and examine him and I said "no-no, I don't want to make her worse". The irony is that it was an Infectious Disease Class, held at that service :rolls:

But I can only skip it 2 or 3 times in the semester and I need to save those for more important situations. :D

Yeah. Hard for me to feel sorry for her after dealing with her in GM.

I'm hoping she's lucky enough to see Simon later in the week.

Here's my very favorite post in the match thread. Remind me again why this guy got so many votes in pop con?

Well, I hope I´ll be able to catch one of the two tournaments there this year, but up until now I never really had the money (and yes, that has a lot to do with the fact that I tend to spend the little I have on frivolities).

I've seen a couple of dispiriting losses. The 2010 one at IW was the absolute worst. Depressing even.

But then look how he turned things around. :yippee:
And I am glad he did :) Are you there every year for IW?

I never saw Nole lose. And I have watched him play many times.

Ok I have seen half a loss. I watched him play Rafa in Madrid in 2009... that painful match. But I had to leave when the 3rd set was 2-2, or something like that, because I had to run to the airport in order not to lose my flight... so I didn't really watch him lose. It was a marathon, I ran (subway) from the tennis center to the hostel to get my bag, then got on the subway again to the airport. This takes like an hour. During this I had my sister texting me the score everytime someone won a game. And then when TB started, I ordered her text me every point. When she told me he had lost, I started crying in the middle of the airport. :rolls:
 That was gutwrenching on the tv, never mind like this, with the partisan Madrileno audience and all.

Ohhhhhhh

That was a match either could have won. I think now Nole would win simply because of confidence.

This is the peak of Nole's career and all fans should enjoy it and revel in it. It lasts such a short time for a tennis player.

Lucky for Nole, Rafa, and Murray that the next crop of youngsters is sort of blah.

Talking about the generation right before Filip and Alex, of course. :p

We should watch it during the weekend! :bounce: can we find it online?

You need to wait until I'm a empty nester :awww: Jr. has a doctor's appointment on March 12 and his spring break is the second week of IW. So the chance I make it this year is slim. Not zero but slim
:awww: My tennis plays for clay reason are at the same stange too. Not zero chance, but about 0,5% chance.

OK to make things easy I can tell you more or less how much I spend on a regular trip to Madrid:

Train: from Coimbra to Porto and Porto to Coimbra, it's 120kms, 11€ for each soo 22€ total
Flights: Porto-Madrid and back, I can normally book a 50€ flight return with Ryanair
Transportation in Madrid: from airport to hostel, hostel to tennis, etc... normally I spend like 15€ on subway (buy a 10 ticket package)
Tennis tickets: I normally buy day and night session tickets for R2 and R3, the cheapest seats available, normally pay in totalk something ike 110€
Accommodation: Cat's Hostel (I love this hostel), something like 15€ a night for the cheapest bed + breakfast, maybe a bit less, normally stay 4 nights, 5 tops, so something like 60€
Food: at the tennis center is very expensive, and they don't let you bring any food or drinks in. :( So I normally starve all day. :rolls: this is sadly true. I mean, I don't starve, but I eat less than I normally do. I probably spend like 15€ a day for food (it helps when you're a girl, small and don't need to eat much).. so 60€

I always stay until friday or saturday, so that if i wish, I can buy a ticket for QF and have one more tennis day... but I won't count that.

So in total... something like 300€? Give it a margin of 50€... so 350€ :)

But you have to understand that I don't do luxuries, or stuff that for my parents, Lee, star are normal and necessary. Like food, during these days is basics. eat as much as possible for breakfast at the hostel,, then a few sandwiches and ice creams during the day. And if I an sightseeing Madrid, then I may allow myself to eat junk, yet cheap, food like McDonalds, etc... also hostels, well I love them, but I am 22 years old.

I eat on the run at IW because there are so many matches. I sometimes take my lunch -- a chicken sandwich with mustard because it won't spoil in the heat -- some almonds, some dried apricots. I let myself have a nice lunch or dinner later in the tournament. It works out really good for me that I don't like Federer because the restaurant is always pretty empty then. I try to stay about $20 on food per day and then have a treat once or twice.

No hostels in IW -- and I wouldn't stay there even so. Also no public transportation. At some of the nice hotels they have a shuttle that goes to the tournament so you don't need to worry about parking.

So about 1600 for lodging for 2 weeks. Driving there round trip 1400 miles plus driving in town -- maybe about $180. The tickets are the big ticket item for the 2 weeks.
