None of us seem really sure why Nole is going to Thailand, - but seems he is determined, - so let's cheer for him Marko will also be there (he has a wild card), and Viktor too of course.

Here is the draw.

Djokovic (1) vs. BYE
Benneteau vs. Qualifier
Berrer vs. Gabashvili
Qualifier vs. Soderling (6)

Berdych (3) vs. BYE
Bellucci vs. Bolelli
Udomchoke (WC) vs. Mahut
Djokovic, M. vs. Nieminen (5)

Safin (7) vs. Petzschner
Zverev vs. Smeets (WC)
Qualifier vs. Kendrick
BYE vs. Monfils (4)

Melzer (8) vs. Young
Santoro vs. Troicki
Qualifier vs. Becker
BYE vs. Tsonga (2)

Supporting Djoković, Tipsarević, Soderling, Tursunov, Youzhny, Cilić and quite a few more

I ask the same question.

Anyway, if you're in, it's for the title.

Re: The Nole, why on earth are you playing in Thailand cheering thread

I also don't know why he's playing here, though I think it just may have something to do with money. I wish he would have defended Vienna, especially since he still hasn't defended a title period. I think it's bad that the next title he has a chance to defend is the AO. But, since he's here, he better win the title. Been too long without one.

So, does anyone know when he'll probably start?

Playing doubles too - http://www.thailandopen.org/upload/d...oubles_PDF.pdf

First round against The Magician and Tsongnator

Add me to the "Why wouldn't he rather defend Vienna?" list.

Doubles WTF! First he says he's tired, then he plays doubles in some stupid tournament on the other side of the world. Oh my

He's playing with Marko he doesn't get much opportunity to do so. I don't think he'll take it incredibly seriously... and since he has a bye in singles he doesn't have to play many matches this week anyway I'm sure it's fine... the doubles just is like "Fun times playing with my brother"

Quite - nothing to add. Just hope it won't bite him in the backside for the rest of the season.

Yes - I can see that, and I'm sure he'll have some great family fun doing it Just not sure 2 weeks before Madrid, and so close to Paris and Shanghai is the right time to do that - especially as he's losing all his points from Vienna last year too Hopefully I'm wrong though.

It's actually 3 weeks before Madrid.

There's this week, then the week of Tokyo/Metz, then the week of Vienna/Stockholm/Moscow and then Madrid

He's on the entry list for Vienna though... Has he withdrawn?

Re: The Nole, why on earth are you playing in Thailand cheering thread

Yeah, why would he play the tournament that gave his brother a wildcard It's not like it's a good, pretty fast indoor court with a traditionally decent, but not to difficult draw to allow a player to start off his indoor season...

Doesn't his management also have something to do with organising the tournament?

Djokovic fans have dirty minds...

kirkicica: Where is the turn on button on Nole?
Mila:
Jess: I know where!
Jess:
kirkicica: Would someone click it please?
Jess: Oh gladly.
kirkicica: Not THAT one.

Okay I read now that he has stated he won't play there? But he hasn't actually withdrawn. His name is still on the entry list.

Anyway, it doesn't bother me that he'd rather have the week off before Madrid to BE well rested instead of playing right up to a Masters Series event

I still think Bangkok is a good warm up event for indoors that still gives him plenty of time to rest before the main events
