Saretta is in the Indy draw and will play andy murray in round 1. i'm excited about this match cause i like both players. i hope i get to see it live. expect lots of pics if i do. if this match is on day 1 (which i'll miss), i'll probably get to see the winner play his 2nd round match.

Re: Flávio Saretta´s shrine! ;)

*bump*

Good win for Flavio today taking out Potito Starace in the 1st round of Roland Garros, coming back from 2 sets down for the first time in his career!

He now has a very tough match against Davydenko and I don't expect him to win, but maybe the win today gives him some confidence for this match and for the rest of the season.

Re: Flávio Saretta´s shrine! ;)

Hi! First time I post here. I would like to know who is Flavio's coach right now. Me and my friends saw Flavio hitting with this coach (we assume he is) in Rome and Hamburg but could not make out who he was. He was tall (taller than Flavio) and blond. Can anyone help? Thanks.

His coach is Jaime Oncins. He is a former Brazilian tennis player who reached the top 40 in the beginning of the 90's, then in the latter half of that decade became a doubles specialist, almost reaching the top 20. He used to play doubles with Guga Kuerten a lot, especially in Davis Cup. He's coaching Saretta since last December.

Hope that helps.

Re: Flávio Saretta´s shrine! ;)

Kay and you forgot to add that Jaime does a mean samba and is probably one of the funniest and most laid back coaches on the tour :-)

A little report that Camp Saretta is back in Brazil for the moment but will be back in action shortly...looking forward to seeing them in Washington D.C.!!!!

Shotgun Blues & michelleg,
Thanks a lot for the info. He indeed was a fun to watch.

Wish Flavio and his team a good luck.

Anyone know what's happening to Flavio?

He's not even playing challengers in South America these days?

He pulled out of Kitzbuhel with a knee injury, but it wasn't very serious and he's already recovered. He should come back in the US Open - funny he needs a few withdrawals to get in the main draw and hasn't entered the qualifying. He probably can't be bothered playing these events in between - typical Saretta.

Not even for quali?

He's 4th on the alternate list now and so far, the only possible WD from MD I can think of is Ancic. May be Joachim Johansson

Is he serious about playing professional tennis? Climbing up ranking?

Well I have more news about him and it seems he and Jaime Oncins are very likely to part ways. Allegedly Saretta is not willing put the necessary effort in the practices, he doesn't seem to be excited about tennis at the moment (well it has been like that for a couple of years now). So Oncins is almost giving up on him, because he initially had higher ambitions for Saretta (and rightly so). I personally have been having the impression that Flavio is comfortable with being around the 100th place in the rankings, and probably has set this as a personal goal for the rest of his career.

If Flavio doesn't get in directly at the US Open, he will only come back in Davis Cup in September.

Re: Flávio Saretta´s shrine! ;)

Thanks for the news, Renato!

I have that same feeling that Flavio doesn't want to put more effort to be a top 50/100 player. It seems to me since he becomes a father, he lost his ambitions and drives. Which is quite a waste. *sigh*

Isn't this guy amazing? Again, he's in the main draw of a Slam at the last minute.

Lucky guy... it will be his first hard-court Slam since the Aus. Open 2005.
