Re: Orlando Luz

It was a good match. Luz/Zormann are very solid for a junior doubles team.

Re: Orlando Luz

Good for him. First weeks of his career on grass courts and won the doubles title. Tough for him to adapt in the beggining after playing futures on clay just before the grass tournaments, but he have another 2 years in the juniors to make a good run in singles.

Re: Orlando Luz

Orlando is playing in the Youth Olympic Games in China this week. He is the number 2 seed. Already won 1 match in singles and doubles. He will play mixed doubles with Luisa Stefani too.

Re: Orlando Luz

Won in singles and mixed doubles. He will play Clement Geens in QF.

So far 100% (2 wins in singles, 1 in doubles and 1 in mixed doubles).

Today he won in singles and doubles with Zormann. He is in the SF in both draws.

Re: Orlando Luz

He won another one and is in the final in singles. Rublev lost in the SF, so I think Orlando will be number 1 if he wins the gold medal tomorrow.

Re: Orlando Luz

ITF confirmed that in its blog:

"Luz/Stefani (BRA) d. Kenin/Rybakov (USA) 64 64
Orlando Luz is still alive in all three events here in Nanjing after he and compatriot Luisa Stefani defeat Sofia Kenin and Alex Rybakov 64 64 to reach the quarterfinals.

In another slice of good news for the Brazilian youngster, I can confirm he will be the new junior world No. 1 if he wins gold in the singles on Saturday."

Re: Orlando Luz

He won in doubles with Zormann and is in the final against Rublev/Khachanov. The sad news is the loss in mixed doubles =(

But it's ok. US Open is just 1 week from here and he will need a good rest after this event to be ready for the tournament.

Re: Orlando Luz

Unfortunately he lost in the final to Majchrzak. The polish played a great match and deserved the gold medal. Orlando needs to continue working. Overall it was a great tournament for him and he will play the final in doubles tomorrow.
