MAIDEN WIN FOR HORNA

Luis Horna, who had never even reached reached an ATP final since turning professional in 1998, won his first tournamen at thet Abierto Mexicano Telcel claycourt event.

The unseeded Peruvian capped his improbable run to the final by defeating seventh seed Juan Ignacio Chela 7-6 (7/5) 6-4.

Horna said: "Winning your first title is an important moment in your career, and winning it at such a great event as Acapulco is even better.

"No doubt that I will always remember this moment."

"I served really well and I also had a little luck in the important moments which helped me to close the points."

Chela was not too downhearted after the defeat by Horna, who he revealed was one of his best friends on the circuit.

The Argentinian said: "I am still very happy, this has been a great week for me, I think Luis played a great match.

"I lost against a great player and a great friend, and I am glad he earned his first career title against me in the final."

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Luis Horna's Power Room!!!!

Lucho is playing the geeky German Mayer in the 1st round and this one could go either way. Just hope he has been training well and if he can win this match, then take out Haas in the next round.

Lucho now plays Haas after beating the geeky German in 2 sets.

http://www.correoperu.com.pe/paginas...seccion_nota=6

http://www.elcomercioperu.com.pe/Edi...es0477427.html

Basically it says that Horna had evened up his head to head record against Mayer. It is very difficult to play him and his serve played a very key role in this match and he wants to make the top 30 in the world.

and he has to play aggressively against Haas and that was what got him the win in this match against Mayer.

Lucho has been playing the River Oaks exhibition and is playing the Houston tournament and has a very good draw to take advantage of, if he is capable.

(6)HORNA, Luis PER vs DANIEL, Marcos BRA
MELZER, Jurgen AUT vs MINAR, Ivo CZE
REYNOLDS, Bobby USA vs VICENTE, Fernando ESP
QUALIFIER vs (2)BLAKE, James USA

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Luis Horna's Power Room!!!!

I think they might get the semi finals in Houston.

Lucho just needs some good match practice before the big events in Europe, he needs to improve in those events.

Here is Lucho's section of the draw. He plays Boredo in the 1st round and he now has time that he has adjusted to Monte Carlo, time to take out the rubbish.

15) ROBREDO, Tommy ESP v HORNA, Luis PER
MONFILS, Gael FRA v ROCHUS, Olivier BEL
SANGUINETTI, Davide ITA v SEPPI, Andreas ITA
MALISSE, Xavier BEL v (3) NALBANDIAN, David ARG

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Luis Horna's Power Room!!!!

Court 2

Hernych vs Benneteau
Mirnyi vs Kiefer
Robredo vs Horna
Di Mauro vs Wawrinka
Hrbaty/Suk vs Acasuso/Prieto

Vamos Lucho time to beat Robredo this time round.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
