After being no. 199 and for the first time top200 last November, Bellucci managed to reach a career-high position of 183 by reaching the quarterfinals in Sao Paolo Challenger, where he lost to compatriot and future tournament champion Thiago Alves.
He's born on 30th December 1987, so just became 20. Bellucci spent the first half 2007 almost exclusively by playing futures in Italy and South America. The he changed to challenger level and reached good results again, in South American clay court tournaments. So he was able to improve roughly 400 positions in 2007.
He also played once in Davis Cup for Brazil so far when losing to Austrian Jürgen Melzer 4-6 4-6 4-6.
However, he did (not) yet make the trip to Melbourne this year where he could have played the qualifiying tournament. Instead he will play La Serena challenger this week (R1 vs. Haider-Maurer). His first big tournament will probably be Costa do Sauipe starting on the 11th of February, where he's very likely to be given a wildcard by the tournament organisation.
Lapentti seems to reach the final, so no shame with what we know now
today Thomaz won his first qualifying match in Buenos Aires 6-4 6-2 over no. 139 of the world, Pablo Andujar from Spain and will play another Spaniard, Marc Lopez, in the quali semis tomorrow
He is very shy, I talked to him at São Paulo. He doesn't seem to be a many words guy, but I saw him training and he is very dedicated and he is surely foccused in getting into top 100
he lost a three-setter to number-1-seed Vassallo Arguello
his next event will be in week 12: San Luis Potosi, Mexico
