After a long rain delay, he lost to Marcos Daniel in the final, 1-6, 6-3, 3-6.
Clearly it wasn't a good sign that he had to play a three setter against 18 year-old, 445th-ranked kid, I heard that kid's kind of talented though.
Actually there's a lot going on with him here in Brazilian tennis scenario. He gave a polemic interview last week saying that the country has no good coaches except for Larri Passos and João Zwetsch, also that former players don't do anything for the national tennis to grow. Then he fires his coach Zwetsch in the following days and receives some harsh answers from important people of Brazilian tennis.
It was made a really big deal of it, now he has to handle it. Carlos Alberto Kirmayr, former player, coach of Gabriela Sabatini when she was numer 1 in the world and now working with women's tennis said he was an "irresponsible child" and that he should start practicing volleys instead of giving press conferences.
I wasn't aware that these things were happening to him. *sigh*
Looks good till 3:3 and has a half chance like 15:30 there.
In the end, too consistent play from Kolya for him.
BTW, how about the relationship between him and the other Brazilian players? All I know is I've seen Melo in the stands at his matches several times (and today as well) and he often plays doubles with one of them. What's the exact problem? Did he really do something bad to get such negative comments?
