Looks good till 3:3 and has a half chance like 15:30 there.
In the end, too consistent play from Kolya for him.
BTW, how about the relationship between him and the other Brazilian players? All I know is I've seen Melo in the stands at his matches several times (and today as well) and he often plays doubles with one of them. What's the exact problem? Did he really do something bad to get such negative comments?
6-4, 6-7(4) He was serving for the match at *5-4. Didn't face a single BP until then. All of a sudden 0-40 down and got broken immediately. A couple of unlucky points in the TB though. Lost 4 pts in a row from 4-3*
BTW, I guess these will be his new outfits for AO.

:clap2: 64 67 75. Not the most impressive of wins but it will do. Next up is Robredo who had a few struggles against the wildcard Michael Venus. Good luck Thomaz.
Down a break at the beginning of the decider
At 2:3*, almost blew the break chances with some dumb shot selection like drop shot in sorta a sitter position.
In the end, closed the match with a break at 6:5* on the third MP. His coach seemed really excited at the win.
Not a bad start anyway. Next, Robredo.
I couldn't follow the match close enough to make any prediction. But as jmf07 said, Robredo hasn't been in a good form almost for a year now. I think it's up to him.
@BellucciOficial Jogo muito duro hj! Tive que me superar no 3o. set, mas no final acabei jogando muito bem. Agora vou com tudo contra o Robredo!
(via GoogleT) Very tough game TODAY! I had to overcome in the third. set, but in the end I ended up playing very well. Now with everything going against Robredo!
I think he does have a chance against Robredo =) i saw his match... 1st set he didnt play awesome but he still won it... second was a bit of bad luck and a bit of good luck from Russell who had nothing to loss. Third set... he was 3.0 down in the score and he made his mind back to the match, I think that recovery in the 3rd set could make the difference against Robredo...
We'll see anyway =)
Great job Thomaz. The hard training prior to the event in Auckland is paying off with two three set wins. Will be interesting to see how he goes against Montanes or Giraldo. Thanks for the pics Shurat.
That crucial backhand volley miss on BP in the 1st game of the 2nd was really painful. It was a long rally and he fought so hard to get the position. That point might have changed the whole picture. Can he ever improve his net game? *sigh* And I'm not sure how far he can get away with this passive game style. Consistency always has been one of the biggest problem of his game, but it doesn't seem any better in this way and his fitness is still in doubt, imo.
Sorry, I'm in a bit gloomy mood tonight. Hope he gets some luck tomorrow.
