Re: The Official X-man cheering thread

If his injury heals well, he is planning to make a comeback in August. He would like to play the US Open.

Let's hope he is able to play there

I really hope Xavier gets ready for the USopen... He started the season so well, it's a pity he was injured from then on.
When he's on, he could do well at the USopen!

Re: The Official X-man cheering thread

According to this report, posted on the site of Sporza (Flemish tv), his wrist problems are still not totally behind him. He's started to train again, but he still feels pain. They don't know if the wrist was just feeling a bit stiff during training or if it's the injury coming back.

They will have to wait and see but if he keeps on feeling bothered by the wrist, he may need an operation.

However, he still hopes to be ready for the USO.

It is still not sure yet if Malisse will come back to the Belgian DC team. The DC soap continues...

Quote:

(Belga)
Or translated:
Quote:
Malisse wants to play Davis Cup but…

Is Malisse still a candidate for Davis cup? “Yes and I’ve been so since last year. But they’ve sidelined me because of an action of two other players and I find this regrettable.”

“The commotion started in France. I was insulted with the accusation that I had partied the night away which is a scandalous lie”, Malisse says about his discontentment.

“The problem is simple. From the moment you lose, you receive criticism.”

“In September, when a new meeting will take place, we will know more. But it bothers me that I’m needed again now. I’m not a toy you can pick up when it pleases you, just to quickly throw it away again. (Belga)

Edit to add:
Currently, the Belgian DC team captain is also the coach of Olivier Rochus (Hoferlin). Malisse wants to keep things seperated so he doesn't want one of the player's coaches to be the DC captain.
His choice is former player Johan Van Herck (who also has a tennis school)

Re: The Official X-man cheering thread

thx for the info!

I doubt Xavier will play another tournament untill the end of august. He got injured at the end of february and can ask for a protected ranking if he didn't play for 6 months. It would be slightly stupid not too take that opportunity.

IMO it could be possible his wrist injury already healed and that Xavier is only waiting to get back with his protected ranking at the US Open... but I could be wrong of course

Xavier Malisse & Kristof Vliegen & Olivier Rochus

Steve Darcis - Dick Norman - Christophe Rochus

Desein - Bemelmans - Masson - Mertens - Authom - Wauters

In my opinion, Xavier has a point there. In theory the Davis Cup coach has to be someone neutral. So why make an exception with Ollie's personal coach I was surprised when I heard the news about Hoferlin's appointment almost one year ago.

Re: The Official X-man cheering thread

Xavier told the press recovered enough from his wrist injury to resume training. And what's more, Malisse thinks he can play again at the US Open.

X-man will be back very soon

Re: The Official X-man cheering thread

Thanks for the update and translation Castafiore

I hope the two players he mentioned in the DC drama isn't Ollie, thought they were good mates...

They were.

I think that the two players he's talking about are Kristof Vliegen and Olivier Rochus.

Re: The Official X-man cheering thread

I thought Xman and Ollie are no longer good mates because of the misunderstanding caused by the DC drama, but the players that made the accusation does not involve Ollie since they were still friends back then.
