Re: Ruben Bemelmans

Ruben plays Olaso for a spot in his maiden grand slam main draw, hope he isn't to tired from the 16-14 final set against Sugita a couple of days ago.

Re: Ruben Bemelmans

After qualifying for Wimbledon and losing to Benneteau in R1 in five sets, Ruben made four challenger QFs to end the season and finished #160 in the final rankings, a career-high. Overall his best result in 2011 was winning the Wolfsburg challenger in late February, his second career challenger title and the only tournament he got beyond the QF stage during the year.

Ruben has started 2012 out very strongly, with a 12-4 record thus far in challengers. He qualified and made the finals of the Heilbronn challenger, the SF of Noumea and Guadalajara and the QF of Kazan. He also successfully qualified into Indian Wells before losing to Matosevic in R1. He is provisionally ranked #145 and has reached a career-high #136 earlier in the year in January.

Ruben's next event will be Davis Cup next week for Belgium vs Great Britain in Glasgow. It will be a tough road tie but the Belgians are the favorites on paper. Ruben will likely be participating in the doubles rubber, so GL to him and the entire team. The winner of the tie will advance to the World Group playoff stage so a lot is on the line!

Re: Ruben Bemelmans

Very crucial part of the season now for Ruben. I think he plays his best tennis indoors, so he should really be starting and finishing the season well. I think he has the game to do well on grass though. I hope he gives it a shot on the surface.

Wimbledon:

Q1: bt. Evgeny Donskoy RUS 6-2 7-5
Q2: bt. Arnau Brugues-Davi ESP 7-6 (1) 6-2
Q3: bt. Farrukh Dustov UZB 6-3 6-7 (3) 7-5 6-1
R128: vs. Carlos Berlocq ARG

Let's go Ruben! Berlocq is a great draw on grass, even if he's having a very good year.

Re: Ruben Bemelmans

Ruben plays Rajeev Ram tonight in Atlanta. He's the underdog for sure, but if he can put the ball in tricky spots, then Ram isn't going to stick with him. Best of luck.

Re: Ruben Bemelmans

Really nice return stats in his win over Rajeev Ram. Not so good on his own serve, but we'll take it. He has a free match against Isner now, so just relax now.

Re: Ruben Bemelmans

Wow, he's really taking it to Isner. So far, Isner has only won half his service points. Just shows what a good returner Riben is. If only he were more consistent in the long rallies.

Re: Ruben Bemelmans

Failed to qualify in LA, Gooch took him, I believe.

Next up, I think a challenger, perhaps Vancouver but I'll have to double check.
