Cool Monte Carlo 2008

Qualifier Clement is currently playing Flavio Cipolla. On paper he should win, but Cipolla just beat Roger-Vasselin and Simon in Estoril. Arnaud is up 3-0 in the first set .

The doubles draw is not out yet.

Re: Monte Carlo 2008

But it is only Arnaud's first match on clay (moreover they had to play the DC on that extra fast surface) against a rival who is currently in a great form and is at the middle of his clay season. So even if he got bageled... Pas grave.

Well, I followed it on the scoreboard though not too carefully as I was busy with something else. Arnaud began having problems already in the end of the first set but he managed to hold his serve and take the set. Then in the second Arnaud broke Cipolla once but was immediately broken back. By the third set I think he was not in his best mood and also had problems with his first serve. So that's it, nothing special.

Re: Monte Carlo 2008

Pas grave, oui. lol
The guy (cipolla) is a clay specialist I guess, and it was arnaud's first match on clay. Just a pity it's a masters serie.
If he loses early in double, he can go home in marseille, I'll be there this week.

I also followed this match on the scoreboard.

He started very well : He led 4/0 and served for 5/0 but he was broken. It's as if at this moment he had lost his serve whereas he had already served 4 aces on his 2 first serving game. He won the set but without this first serve and after that it was another match. He broked Flavio in the second set but then lost his serve. And in the last set he was not there.

If he doesn't win some points in Munich it will be very hard for him.

For doubles, they don't have an easy draw : normally Coetzee and Moodie who have beaten them in Miami and maybe after the Bryan's

Re: Monte Carlo 2008

hmm i dunno but if he managed to win the first set, it's not like he's taking too long to find his clay form against a good opponent.

i hope he and mika will further sharpen up in their first clay match of the year then. (don't mean the bye, of course )

Re: Monte Carlo 2008

Llodra-Clement lost the first set on tie-break (5-7) and they were broken on second set

Monte-Carlo and Clay are not a playground for them

They converted none of their 5 break balls whereas Moodie-Coetzee converted 1/4

I don't know if they will play one more time together before RG? Because Llodra will play Masters and Clément won't.

Thanks soulage and welcome to the Arnaud forum!

Too bad, but maybe Julien and Mahut can beat the Bryans tonight!!

Thanks for the both match reports and welcome, hope you'll be posting here pretty often to keep us updated

I think Arnaud and Micka are probably going to play together in Rome. Arnaud is on the qualifying entry list - and good for him because there he has more chances to win 1-2 matches

As for their loss in doubles this week, hopefully there is nothing to worry about because the guys who beat them won Estoril a week ago (if I remember it right) and here in Monte-Carlo they also beat the Bryans.
