Re: Autumn 2009 - Indoor/Outdoor

Paulo is through to the semis of Metz!

R1: Bye
R2: [3] P Mathieu (FRA) d M Gicquel (FRA) 76(5) 64
QF: [3] P Mathieu (FRA) d [7] A Beck (GER) 62 36 63 <-- Paulo had a chance to break early in the Set 2, missed it and got broken at once. He played pretty bad compared to the Set 1, and besides his serve went down (in the first set Paulo got a lot of cheap points from it, per contra). After the match versus Marc Paulo said that great serving was key to the match. Well, it looks like that for this match as well (just look at his serve stats from the third set: 62% first serves - 89% points won - 9 aces and no BPs). Hope Paulo will continue to serve like that.

Federer
Dimitrov | Ancic | Baghdatis | Eysseric | Herbert

Way to go, Paulo!

Is he still wearing that ugly back shirt?

Re: Autumn 2009 - Indoor/Outdoor

Yay, semi finals. Well done Paulo!

(and thanks for starting the thread, Olga, we've been bad at keeping track of his results lately here, I didn't want to start it in case I jinxed him! ).

Yes, he's wearing the white version of it now. Well it doesn't look at bad at the yellow one anyway!

Q. You must have so many different emotions going through your head. Was it like a rollercoaster for you?
STANISLAS WAWRINKA: Yeah, yeah, it's quite crazy..I never expect to win a Grand Slam.
I never dream about that because for me, I was not good enough to beat those guy.

I hope I won't jinx him, Jenny! Well, I just thought that we needed a thread like this.

Paulo plays Kohlschreiber next. The last time they played was in 2003, so the result is kind of irrelevant. Vamos Paulo!

Oh, and I like the white version of the shirt much more than the yellow one, too!

Re: Autumn 2009 - Indoor/Outdoor

Ah, in 2003... That explains why I don't remember Paulo playing Kohli

Well, he seems to be serving well so I sure hope it continues tonight! Who wouldn't love an all-Frenchies final?!

I'm sorry, but I still dislike the back of that shirt very much

Re: Autumn 2009 - Indoor/Outdoor

For keeping record sake, Paulo lost to Kohlschreiber 7-6 (5) 6-4.

It wasn't a bad match from Paulo though, although his 1st serve let him down badly in the final game, after serving at 70+% for the whole set. C'est dommage. Let's hope for more wins over in Asia.

Re: Autumn 2009 - Indoor/Outdoor

At least the serve seems to be improved, right?

Blame it on the shirt, shall we?

Yes, he served much better this week compared to the first half of the season, that's a good sign.

Re: Autumn 2009 - Indoor/Outdoor

We saw Paulo training today He trained with Almagro. Paulo looks happy and relaxed. I did talk with him a lot, and I can only say Paulo and his team are too nice. The draw is tough, but we will try the best to cheer for him on the court, hope he can play some good matches AGAIN here.
